Hi
I am going to view an 1150GSA SE tomorrow.
It will be used mainly for 2up riding and touring(if i purchase)
My only concern's are,is the standard seat compfy 2up over long distance?
Is the SE seat any different to the standard GSA seat apart from colour?
Is it possible to fit a dual seat such as Sargent or similar.

Thanks Steve

The SE seat is exactly the same as all other ADV seats ie awful, it's just the colour that's different.
My SE has a standard 1150 rear end with twin Corbin seats but there's plenty of options.

hiya steve, you could always try and find someone who,s looking to do a straight swap for the standard 1150/1100 seat arrangement;)my seats are freshly re-upolstered corbin style and without modification fit the gsa.if your interested give us a bell or leave me your e-mail address and i,ll TRY and post pic or two.cheers craig

Thanks Tim.
Is it a difficult and expensive job to convert the rear end.

Steve

No..................about £200-£250 for parts new from a dealer (cheaper used) and the price of the seat/seats of your choice

It'll look like this

Not difficult and needn't be expensive.
You should be able to source many of the parts 2nd hand. Try doing a search as I think Johnny Boxer posted a lisr of all parts needed including part numbers.

Ideally find someone who mistakenly;) wants to adventurise their std 1150/1100 and do a swop.

You could always just stick an airhawk on (around 50 squids) for the mean time... quite comfy really, though not as pretty.

Having the original seat repacked/recovered etc shouldn't cost more than a £100

and no messing with the bikes rear rack/subframe.

just ask the guy to be careful removing the original cover and return it to you - then if you come to sell the bike it can easily be returned to OE. spec.

It'll never be as good as a 2 piece seat for the pillion, though:augie

You can buy a rear seat extension for the GSA from touratech, it comes with a grab rail as you have to remove the original and it extends over the rack, if you can't afford to lose the rack space you can also get a rack extension from them too. I've had this set up on mine for years and never a complaint from passengers, but plenty of moans before it was fitted.

+ 1 for the Airhawk but they are expensive.

Picture here of a sargent seat on Mr Ifan's old GSA.

Never had a problem myself with the seat on my GSA, but always struggled to reach any level of comfort with the twin seats on my old 850GS and 1200GSA and ended up trying Sargent seats and Airhawks. Airhawks won hands down once set up correctly. For me anyway, but i don't have as much padding as some around here :augie

If you do end up taking the se seat off the bike I would suggest you try to keep hold of it for when you come to sell the bike, if you want to do a swap with someone for the kit of twin seats you will usually be able to pick up a std dual seat for much less than the price of the se version.

I have to agree the adv seat was not comfortable for me, tried airhawks not too impressed, I now have a Sargent seat which I have an Alaska butt pad for touring, very comfortable, also have a heated Corbin OK but I prefer the Sargent.
If you get up to Blackburn you are welcome to try any of them. think I may have a full set of parts to convert to twin seats you could try before swapping out yours with whoever offered to swap first.

At the end of the day you just have to try these things and find which suit you and your partner.

Do the finished Corbins come in at the same height as the original GSA seat, they look wider does this make a difference to getting yer foot down. Also like the look of the tank cover , who when where what ??:augie

Cheers
