Alternative single-output coil for post '81 airhead

According to Motor Works and others they are no longer available new, is there an alternative available, please?

A Boyer Micropower system includes the coil, leads and caps, doesnt cost a lot more than some aftermarket coils and will probably work better than your 30 year old existing components.

BROWN coils have 1.5 ohms primary resistance,for 1981 through 1995 Airheads with EARLY, SMALLER ignition module and single plugs.

Yep, they look like the ones, used ones are still available from Motor Works.

Why not a pair of 6 volt Bosch blue coils? Very reliable

2 of my old airhead have a pair fitted for over 10 rears and still have one an 81 R100RS and the other an 85 R80RT

+1. These are probably the best replacement for the originals.

I just spoke to Motorworks and asked if they could suggest another coil, they said to go for the dual-output ELA44426 at £104.40. They said I would have to rig up some sort of bracket to mount it. Has anyone tried this solution, and if so, was mounting it much of a problem? Oh, and did it work OK?

PS ELA44426 mentioned above is Motorworks' own catalogue number, dunno if it's BMW's or anybody else's.

The link I posted above (post 3) says the blue coils are no longer available but they have a Bosch replacement that's simply ally coloured.

Cracking link Rob ( I have two spare S/H standard OE coils ) but this will be the way in the future ( my bracket has come away from frame )
