Alternative to BMW final drive seal?

Check that the ridges on the inner seal are the correct way around. You don't want them guiding oil out of the F/D.

Non specific/generic seals off the shelf can have them the wrong way or not at all.

i've found they can usually be be obtained for rotation in either direction.

are the original seals viton? i've found them very good, and last for ages in other applications.

OE look like bog standard seals, the replacement seal is viton and certainly feels more flexible. Obviously hoping this fixes it, as previously mentioned I will report back once the bike has had a good run

Just a quick update to say the bike has now had several 200 mile+ runs with no sign of any leaks.

Def a better seal than the OE in my opinion.

the site says the seals are double lip but they are not double lip - they are single lip with a wiper ring.

customer service tells you to pretty much feck off its your problem and then they ignore you.

CC charge back was the only to get a refund.

Sorry to hear about the hassle you've had with this seal.

Got to say it doesn't make me want to stop buying OEM seals. For the small (or sometimes non existent) savings it just doesn't seem worth the risk.

sorry, misunderstanding, its not for the specific final drive sized seal, its for all seals they call double lipped - the lying feckers

My problem was the three previous OE seals kept leaking, this seal was more expensive than BMW but has stopped the leak.

Obviously the engineers on here are in a better postion to speak about the vendor regarding the materials they use, however the seal I used has certainly done what the OE parts couldn't do.
