Hi All, this is just me sharing my experiences for the benefit of other members as I have, indeed, benefitted from in the past.

I recently purchased an oil bottle for the recess on the inner side of the RH fuel tank for my 2010 GSA from Nippy Normans.

Firstly I have got to say how great the service was from Nippy Normans - I was a first time customer and the product arrived quickly and with no grief.

Regretfully, the top or lid simply cracked at the top and weeped oil out down the inside of the bike (it`s at a tilt of course when held in place).

I contacted Nippy Normans and to my absolute glee another top was sent and arrived very promptly and with their compliments. No - I am not on the payroll of Nippy Normans but credit where credit is due - their customer service is as it should be in this world of `stack em high sell em cheap` - well done NN :clap

Regretfully, due to a manufacturing fault, the lid broke again and this resulted in more oil being weeped down the inside of the bike. I would say `I`m no engineer` but I am so, and only constructively, the lid could do with a thicker section around the top to stop it from cracking - I am sure NN are sorting this out for the future :thumb2

I could have easily contacted NN again and I am sure they would have sorted it or offered a refund but I started to look for alternatives (and life is too short to start bugging good people too much!).

So, I contacted my Beemer dealer who said that BMW don`t supply one (which is a fair one) so I was left to my own devices. After countless searches for all manner of bottles (and lids!) I found this one - it`s actually a 2 stoke oil/fuel mixing bottle supplied with most spear and jackson garden equipment such as chainsaws and petrol strimmers. not only does it have a very secure lid with a rubber gasket (the NN one only has silver gasket `paper`) but is quite robust and fits even better than the NN one!

Don`t misunderstand me - I am not `dissing` NN here - in fact I have high regard for them and well done lads, keep up the very good service. But if you have had the same problem then there is an alternative you can use and this is it.

Hope it might be of help to any other forum members who might have had the same problem as me - the NN supplied strap is a perfect fit and accommodates this other bottle very well. Naturally, I am sure if you wanted to stick with the NN bottle all you have to do is report the fault and they fall over themselves to put it right - it`s just that the lid doesn`t work for me and maybe some other forum members!

Regards,

Mark

The queen was visiting Wappings local hospital the other day. She looked round one of the new wards with the ward Sister and a bunch of Doctors. They came across a patient in his single room furiously masturbating.

'Ooooooo' she said, 'Whats he doing?'

'Ahhh' said the Sister, 'He has a medical condition where he produces too much semen, so we've put him on a self treatment program'

Slightly bemused the Queen carried on down the corridor and peered into the next single room - there was a chap in bed getting a BJ off a gorgeous nurse.

'Ooooooooooooo' Said the Queen, 'So whats going on here...?'

'Oh', Said Sister, 'This man has the same condition, but he's with BUPA.....'

:D

semi synth piss

Looks like a (used) piss bottle in hospital, brimming.

Go to the top of the glass for urine identification techniques (the long winter nights must fly by at your house matey) :thumb2

It took me nearly two pints of Carlsberg to produce that.

All comments are seen as constructive, no matter what the angle........... :bounce1

Yeah --- Wapping's with BUPA by the way ....... :P

Good post Mark, someone just gave me one of those bottles and I later discovered the same design fault.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Thank you.

Hiya TonyB - yes it is a problem but I do stress that NN are very good and it was only my intention to bring an alternative to the attention of other members.

I`ve got serious benefit outa this forum (and met some good geezers) so I saw it as a very small way of giving a little back if it would help someone else.

By the way, you can always half fill the NN bottle but it`s not ideal - hope you got yours sorted.

Mark.

I just keep a litre bottle of oil in its original bottle either in a pannier or the top box :nenau

Never really seen the point of this little bottle especially as I've used the recess for housing a stebel horn which is of far more use

Good idea

Thans a good idea Big Nick as the horn is a bit naff. The bottle in the panniers or top box is also an obvious one but, for me, there are times when I haven`t got them fitted so it`s good that I can still carry some on-board if needed.

Nonetheless - it`s a good suggestion for the horn - perhaps that suggestion/alternative would benefit other members :thumb2

Excuse my dumbness here Mark but..... does one have to purchase a chainsaw/strimmer to acquire this exquisite item?

Mark, why not just say your going to offer them up for sale, NN's kit is normally fine with a prompt service, mine fitted fine, so maybe he needs to fix his source of supply first

Thanks ! Had the same problem with the top splitting. I'll order one of the alternatives today.

Eh?

No, sorry, I have no intention of offering them up for sale - perhaps I have misunderstood you - this was only meant to be about passing on an observation about an alternative to help other members.

And yes, NN`s kit is brilliant, i`ve spent several hundreds with them and I am chuffed to bits. I`ve also emailed them my observations in the hope they may, indeed, improve this great bit of kit.

Good

i`m pleased I may have helped you :thumb

Don`t forget - NN`s wil always do their upmost to sort it out but I think the problem is a little further down the line at the manufacturing stage and I am sure they will sort it out in time.
