Can anyone tell me the correct belt for my 1150gsa 2003 born july. Belt removed from bike P/Number 11:23 7881 841-692637 have pick-up belt from dealer the correct one for time of build very very hard to get on, well did not get it on with all bolts loose next belt tried P/N 11:28-1341 779-692637 just too big HELP

Did you make sure the alternator had dropped down fully.
Even with all the bolts loose you have to force it down.

Squeeze the two sides of the belt together and force the alternator down.
The belt is 611 x 4 rib ( 611mm is the length of the belt)

Yes even had the tank off as Im fitting extra fuse board still no joy

Hi

This bolt on my 1100 once undone (with the others) still would not let the alternator drop.

On the back of the bolt I had to put an allen key and turn the bolt to release the tension on the belt, it works on a sort of rack and pinion and jacks the alternator up to tension or down depending on the way you turn it.
Just a thought that this might work on yours

ref alternator belt have now tried both belts from bmw ones to big the other to small Steptoe is correct the belt length is 611mm p/n 11237881841 but not recognised!! so have now put the original back on just hope it last until I get this sorted.

Go to a car spares shop and get a 4 ribbed 610mm belt - it fits, and is a common size, unlike the "special" sized 611mm:rolleyes: that bmw sell.

For £49 incl the belt, labour and VAT I let Williams at Manchester do this arse of a job for me on my 1150GSA.

I've just fitted one to my 1150, it's a 2001 model. First belt supplied by the dealer was too short, can't recall the length. When I contacted them to query I was advised the shorter belt was for the 'Twin Spark' model, mine's a single spark. Once correct belt was obtained it was a 5 minute job. Cost £11, plus 2 x 100 mile round trips to the dealer.:blast

My local BMW dealer rang me tonight ref my belt problem the mechanic says the small belt is the correct one and requires a special tool to fit it no other way can it be done!! I think Ill do wot steptoe has recommends

Sounds a hint of small round furry things there.

Had a similar problem with my Alt belt. The supplied belt was correct according to the Chassis/Frame number but it was just to small and dealers insisted it was the correct one. But after some insistance from me and looking on the parts comp, parts showed two belts around my Frame number (early/late) got the earlier belt and fitted no problems. For info my bike frame was built Aug03 but it looks like the engine was a month or two earlier hence the missmatch.
Hope that helps.

I bought my last one from an auto spares shop, its a Gates micro-v XF...part no ...4PK613. Cost approx £2.00. No problems at all since fitting it.

.part no ...4PK613. .

Woody, your far to sensible - But you do understand that because the belt doesn't come in a BMW box, it won't work properly ( it can't do if it isn't a genuine BMW part) and your bike will explode.

The 4 is the amount of ribs - 613 is the length :thumb2

So any belt between 610 and 613 will fit :D
