I'm sure this is common sense to most of you, but please, please, please don't make the same mistake I have. I you ever raise the subframe, make sure you either support the swingarm, or strap the centre stand to the front wheel.
I didn't, hence when I accidentally knocked the bike causing the centre stand to flip up... The gearbox and engine plummeted to the ground (barely missing the ground) with the forks extending forward... This caused the front shock to press on the alternator cover, snapping the upper housing section (pics attached). Luckily this was the only damage done. The only thing keeping it together just now is the tension of the belt itself.
My question is, is it possible to to replace the alternator cover without removing the crank seal?
Cheers
