Got the alternator off the bike today, great fun,and it is fubar.
Has anyone any experience of where i can get a recon Denso unit from.
The casing is cracked in a couple of places so no good for exchange.
Thanks in advance

I got mine from eBay USA, a denso unit from a breakers in Arizona so nice and dry and no corrosion. It was cheap at £60 including air freight.

My old one was corroded and split but still worked, but would sometimes seize up and cause running problems.

Just been looking on ebay and they are a lot cheaper from the good old us of a though i would prefer a recon one i think this may be the way to go as funds are in short supply.

I got one from eBay.de. Admittedly its "only" a 40Amp, but 1/2KW should be more than enough. It cost £55 including delivery plus a GS (longer) drive belt.

With everything I have running (main beam, LED spots, heated grips, sat nav) it still shows 4.2 to 14.3 Volts.

Yup. eBay.de is a good place for all things beemer.
Use google chrome as it'll translate for you.
Never yet had a German seller refuse to ship to uk.

There a couple in the states with the right numbers on and even with shipping etc are a good bit cheaper than any over here.
There does seem to be a lot of parts available from Latvia and Lithuania for some reason!

I wouldnt touch them with a bargepole, probably your bikermates bike that was nicked and broken up. Thievin scroats AFAIK

That was the point i was making.

It's a shame mine is the Denso 60a unit as there is a Bosch one brand new cheap.
I seem to remember seeing a post about being able to change the wiring but not 100% and don't want to end up with a lot of messing about only to cock it up.
