I need to replace my alternator, I’ve been searching for another but not having much luck.
The one I have on is a 60A denso, part no 12.31-2 306280.
I have found some that look the same but different part number, and the search is telling me they are from the same model ( k25).

My question is, will another model fit or does it have to be the same as the original.?
60 or 55A?

Also any suggestions where I can get one. Most on eBay are America or Italy.

Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at getting it reconditioned? Or is it beyond repair?

Might still be rebuild able though, worth giving Steptoe an enquiry.

What about eurocarparts or similar ?

When you google it a John Deere one comes up, maybe cheaper there.

I think it’s had it. Won’t turn.
That's usually a sign of corrosion and the case is likely to be cracked, not rebuildable ... I'm accumulating a nice collection of seized 1200 alternators. Never had an 1100/1150 alternator seize and they're now reaching over 20 years old

Mine started making a ticking noise then a scraping noise. The winding core laminations had corroded and split the case. A week after removing it from the bike it was locked solid.

I fitted the lower output version bought from Germany for £45. It came with the correct pulley so just needed a different drive belt.
I have 35 watt LED headlight bulbs and 5 watt LED daylight markers. So I’m using 45 watts plus engine electronics and rear light. Instead of 150 watts plus engine etc.
Voltmeter never shown any signs of charging stress.

Yes there is a crack in the case, totally seized.
As I said at start, will another model fit or does it have to be the same.? Having trouble finding one.

Have you got a contact or website link for this please.

Seem to remember you can fit a Bosch unit, they don’t suffer the corrosion issue.
Only mod needed is to fit the correct wiring connector as they are different.
The repair connector is available from the dealer.
There was a thread on it a couple of years ago ,by val h ,iirc.

I have found a few model number ending in 825. Looks the same. Is it compatible.??

My old cracked ND alternator ends 825. I don’t remember what the replacement was, except it was lower power capacity with a larger pulley and it fitted plug n play.
I never managed to remove the old alternator pulley.

I got a replacement for mine from a breaker in the states for a good price including postage (about £60 total IIRC) , it was like new due to being from a dry climate.

I’m looking at one in Italy at the moment, looks mint, guessing because of the climate.
Model number is different but looks exactly the same as one I’ve removed.

My lower power ND looks just like the one I removed. The hint is the larger pulley wheel on lesser output version.
