Timpo.

I was in two minds about either the 950 se or the g450

so pleased i took the 450.

I've just signed up - 20% discount if you pay 350 Euro before the end of Sept.

Now do i go for the Airhead or - The XC modified with a reklus clutch, a hand rear brake and a coil rear shock

I'm signed up as well.

Need to start fitness training now !!

Think I am going to have to do thi event next year - I missed it out last year and have regretted it - the trail riding out there is fantastic and the Alto Turio routes are brilliant.

Best start saving now ;-)

If you want support from Reg Moule you should get in quick as he only has one or two places left

cheers for the note but we did it with Brian Eland the year before last and not much support was needed. I'll run down in my Shogun towing bikes - It'll be fine.

Burt

the event start is a Hotel complex with hotel rooms or a chalet or camping available not sure where i'll be staying it'll be a chalet or camping but undecided yet still loads of time to decide pay deposit before the new year get the 20% discount then sort accomidation out later.

and the event comes back to the hotel every night where your evening meal and breakfast is included in the event price. the organisers also provide some lunch and water at a CP during the day you need 160kms range from your bike.

i'll chat with you at the Radnor regarding the event..

Bri - are you going to run a bike transport service and support for spares, tyres etc. like you did the year we went?

Hi Brian will you be on the WR 450...

I was thinking about taking the X challenge instead of the Airhead - Comfort v ability to go through water :-)

I need to get some riding in I've done very little since the last Alto.

Wreford

Yes will be running the transport and pit's area service again as have been approached by several wanting to use the service.
yes will probably be riding a WRF450 unless i get a better offer between now and then.
I've never had enough of a break from the bike since the last Alto to let my wrist recover fully.

Can I ask you learned gents a few questions about this?

I’m approaching a significant birthday next year (involving the numbers 0 and 5) :rob and need a suitable challenge to mark the occasion.

Now, I’m very new to riding off road, so I will probably leave winning til the year after :D

So a couple of tips? What bike would be best suited and what level of expertise should I be at? I don't want to be riding around Spain for several weeks looking for the first turn, or laying dehydrated, crushed and bloody under a bush for a week.....

I’m looking at 2011 rather than next year btw….

:)

The key to a good event is being able to navigate, if you're hanging onto a mad machine you'll struggle.

How about a WR250

Do it in 2010 you've got a good 6 months to get your act together

I think you'd struggle on a WR250 just with the fuel economy (and there actually very old now) but Wreford is on the right lines but i would suggest a WRF250 a little bit extra fuel storage only a couple of litres a decent bashplate then whatever rally gear your going to use (You don't need to spend a lot of money).
I took a WRF250 last year as a pit bike which my father was running around on for the most of the week and on the last day i loaned it out to a competitor who rode the last day it was never found wanting and are cracking bikes.
do it in 2010 and you've got till 2011 for the injuries to heal.....

Thanks Gents

With my limited knowledge and experience and from what little stuff I can find on t'net, I was wondering about a 400exc..... purely based on the daily distances involved?

As I say though, what would I know!

I was also thinking about doing various rallies in the UK as good preparation?

Unfortunately work demands means 2010 is a no go and I'm quite keen on it being a goal and a challenge for my 50th year in 2011....

:)
