I have just recently bought a 1200gs and i cant fint the power socket that the manual mentions, can anyone give me a clue. Also how do you put the parking lights on, the manual says swith off and press the left indicator switch, i have and nothing happens!! again, any clues would me much appreciated.:thumb

Never used the parking lights tbh but the book says..
Turn off the ignition.
Within about 60 seconds (as long as the red warning light on the left handgrip switch housing is on), push either turn-signal switch.
You say you're doing this so I'd try keeping it pressed for longer. ??

The power socket is on the left/rear of the bike by the seat.
There is an option for a socket up front on the bodywork by the bars but not many go for this option.

Look here for more 'tricks'..

I have no red warning light. I switched on and after yellow light on, I switched off and held LHS indicator button for +-5 secs and the park light came one.:beerjug:

**now i can charge the bike up.**

If you have the correct charger you can:augie
Or you could buy a second power socket kit and wire it to the battery
and use any charger ( well sort of )
If you use a normal charger through the under seat socket the CanBus
may well turn it off ( some have found )
Lyn.

And some folk wonder why we take the piss.

Tried charging the bike up like it says in all the posts, using a bmw charger but after a certain length of time the light on the handlebar goes out and charging stops, the power lights on the charger stays on. guess an optimate will be the answer to this one.

barleymo do you have anything wired into the back of the socket. Some people have found if they wire, say an autocom into the back then that causes problems. I did and my optimate wouldn't charge through the socket. Took the autocom out and it charges fine

nothing wired in that i know of, there are 2 sockets on the bike the one under the seat near side, and one that is at the front of the bike wired directly to the battery.
