Hello from Emerald Isle...

I have a weeks leave in late November and as Billy Connolly says 'I've been all over the world but never been to Scotland..' so am toying with a weeks blast around your fair land... Am I mad at that time of year???

Thinking of ferry larne - Cairnryan and then....

Any ideas to miss the harshest weather, best roads and meet the friendliest locals

Come at the end of May. Go up the West Coast.

Friendly locals....I've always found the folks in Nevada and Utah to be pretty good in that respect.....

i wid agree wi the others come at the end of may, if you come at this time the weather might spoil it it for you . if you enjoy a good run up the west coast you will want to come back n do it again if you do decide to come in may stick a post on here and you will get some good pointers.

I've spent last week and this week tootaling about averaging 170ish miles per day, mainly on the west coast. It has been raining but we've had heavier rain during the summer months. The big drawback just know is the road conditions when you are off the main roads and the low sun which seems to be constant all day. This afternoon I had the sun on my back and quiet roads which were clean and dry absolute bliss.

You may well be mad wanting to go on a bike trip in scotland just now but why not. There would probably be no need to book anywhere as most B&B wont be full so you could go where the weather is supposed to be good .

Some dafties (me included) are even talking about camping in december.

Thanks guys... I chickened out and am gonna rent in Spain insteasd for the week... The suggestion of April/May trip to Scotland sounds much better...
