Am one of us… Got my new 1200GSA yesterday from Balderston motorcycles {great service must say } and took her straight down to the Cotswolds to run her in.
There is one question . I kept her under 4k rev for fist 200 miles then up to 6k, but over 4k revs it vibrates quite a lot is this the norm ?.:nenau

Simon, moved this to the 1200 section, you may get a few more opinions here :thumb

So you've not opened it up yet then ;)

Dont worry about the vibration. Get with the program. Get an Avatar and a signature with a semi naked woman. Thats the way to be a GS'er.

They get smoother and smoother the more miles you put on and the motor won't be fully loosened up for a good few thou :thumb2

simon, I have an 06 GS, no vibe problems anywhere, in fact a very smooth bike considering ita a twin.

I could swear my manual says to keep it below 4k for the first 600 miles ? That what I did, after that I increased max revs til I hot vibration, then backed off, a bit. Slowly the point at which the vibes came in moved further up the rev range, now its smooth as anything ...

Thanks

Thanks for every ones replies. I found out that one of the fog lights was vibrating against the fuel tank and after moving it has made a huge difference.:thumb2

The sales person at the shop told me to keep her under 4k for 200 miles then up to 6k till it reached 600 miles. And I was that eager to ride it I didn’t look in the manual. But your right in the manual it does say 4k revs for 600 miles. I hope I’ve not damaged it .

Marvellous Thingys, do us all a favour and stop pissing on simons bonfire. He posted this thread with a simple question which has been answered and there really was no need for you to hijack it with this bollox.

While you are at it, why don`t you pay your £12 subscription and then we may take you seriously. Until then, we will make our own minds up as you kindly suggest:thumb

Cant afford the £12
Need it to put towards numerous spare parts in case or shouls I say when "I BREAK DOWN"

Now tell me, how many other bikes or cars do people have to do that for???

Point made.........................

Well said that man:thumb2

Mavellous Thingys, grow up and stop acting like a nerd. If you done your homework before splashing out 10k then perhaps you may have discovered that a BMW is not your cup of tea.

Just bog of from this site and get back to the howling, high revving faceless bikes you seem to crave for:stopbeing
