aMSN Webcam

Hi

I'm after some advice, and not being much of a geek, I need to be treated as stupid!

I bought an Acer Aspire one for the boy for Xmas. It is running Linux. He is into MSN so he uses aMSN. The problem is that he cannot have a webcam chat with his friends. It works when he trys with his sister, (who is on the same network at home) but not with anybody outside of my home network.

Is this a setting on the computer that can be easily fixed?
