I've been getting my K75C ready for the colder weather and wanted to fit some hand guards on the cheap and was asked the morning what solution I'd come up with.

I had an old pair of standard KTM guards kicking around which looked like this (although this is not my photo).

It should be quite simple but the k75 bars are stupidly narrow so although you can use a traditional fixing in the bar end, attaching the inboard side requires a bit more imagination.
I have loads of bits kicking around so used some similar to these fixings.

Then it's just a matter of getting them on the bars, and there's virtually no room for adjustment, cutting the end off the plastic KTM guard and drilling a hole. Simple:beerjug:

The end result isn't the prettiest but it's very stable and does an excellent job at keeping the wind off your pinkies, I may tidy them up further sometime.

I found some decent heated grips in the garage but importantly, transformed the headlight by fitting an Osram bulb running through two relays I tried it last night and the results are brilliant all for less than £15:)

Next is to sort the dismal stop/tail light.
There's plenty of room in there to fix two, three wire enduro led units which can be shaped and fixed inside the light unit.

Cheers Timolgra

Exactly what I was looking to know, coincidentally my k100 has 75C bars fitted, I just need to check the clearance around the RS fairing.

Yes, you may have a clearance issue there because the bars are so narrow. I've considered getting new cables made up to allow me to fit some shortened 11**GS bars.

Would be interested in the details of headlight modification Tim.
Mine is the 75S (ex the late Mike P) which has the square headlight.

It'll be the same Richard, and with a fantastic improvement.
All your doing is preventing the voltage drop at the bulb after it's run through the long and old wiring etc.
You can achieve this best by having two relays, one for dip, one for main beam.

Two of these

To make this easier I got one of these to fit on the bulb and used the wires straight to the relay etc. They only a couple of quid.

I made a quick sketch of my wiring, don't take it too literally for instance one fused +'ve to terminal 30 can be linked to the other relay.

You can see the relay needs to be triggered by either low or high beam so just use a male spade connector into the old bulb plug then to terminal 85

Wiring this way keeps the dip on when you switch to main beam.

This is my back of an envelope note :D
