An era closes?

It is ironic that as the Queen spoke in Dublin last night giving a hugh degree of closure to 800 yeqrs of strife; a great Irishman was btrathing his last. A man who in the 70's % 80's set out a pleuralist template that transcended narrow nationalism. He struggled with all sorts of wider social issues & gave leadership for all people - not alwats effectively but his committment to change could not be questioned.
There are few people for whom a one word name singles them out. Garrett may you rest in peace & may you get to see if Heaven works as well in theory as it does in practice.

A true gentleman politician. I had the pleasure to spend some time in his company at his home about 7 years ago. Fantastic vision and intelligence.

We need more politicians of Garrets qualities in the Dáil.
