End of an era!

It seems like that there are a lot of ex - customers of Marshalls on here. It would be interesting to know if they do much bike business as they went down hill fast when Steve Constable left and clarke took over.

Funny...that was why Ian at Rainbow was a great bloke to deal with " there ya go that's the deal" sorted

Almost came across like " back of a fag packet"

That's it

There is the price - job done

Great bloke - done a few deals with him

There's always two sides to a coin.
What most people see is the sales side, That's the price with this and that and I'll give you this for your bike. No checking you bike over first. The profit in the new bike can be lost by having to do extra work on your new bike and then making sure the trade in is ok for re-sale to offer a BMW warranty.

Cheers Dave.

It's more than a rumour:blast

Had an interesting talk with an ex member of marshals staff this afternoon. Apparently it's suggested that it's " jump before he's pushed situation". Allegedly the Marshall management aren't to pleased with how things are going. I can't see how things will improve though with new staff and bigger targets.

It's more than a rumour:blast

Oh no !!
I bought a new bike from Grimsby. After a lot of aggro I eventually got them to take it back .
The sales man had deliberately lied to me about the spec
It was changed for another bike with me having to make up the difference and left a very sour taste

I bought a bike from Ian at Rainbow ..
. When I got it home and was cleaning it I noticed corrosion on a few areas ,
cylinder fins ,rear wheel ,engine case etc.
I know I Know I should have noticed when it was in the showroom ...
I had to wait three days before I could go back and see Ian , he had a day off and they close on Monday
When I eventually went in to the Showroom and mentioned it to Ian ,he had a look and straight away said
"That's a pile of shite .we should not have sold that "
He offered me my trade in back , My money back ,or another bike

I chose another bike and he did me a really good deal
It being the end of December may have helped ....

That was Ian ... No pissing about talking to his manager . No sucking of teeth ,
Didn't need to talk to Shaun
No hassle and absolutely feck all like the experience I had at bloody Astle Grimsby

(I assume Marshalls is the new name for Astle )

So in short ...... Ian ..good guy

Ian is a great salesman and a top honest guy.
I have purchased 3 bikes from him with no fuss.
Just a shame that their service reception are not as helpful.
Good luck Ian in your new adventure wherever it may be.

other dealerships other than BMW ones dont seem to have a problem retaining staff..pidcocks change staff like underpants..BMW have just announced projected sales to increase dramatically over the next year, building smaller engined bikes to boost sales this will put more pressure on staff to reach targets

Unfortunately they retain the wrong ones.

Don't really know the guy but found his attitude , ermmm 'challenging' shall we say. This was the guy who said he wouldn't sell me a basic spec R1200RS, no explanation why at the time, but later clarified by saying it wouldn't be good customer service to sell me one as they don't hold their value. My choice surely? Can't be arsed with all this marketing bullshit so left it- the new salesman, Dave, seems like a decent guy so might have another look-see at some point..

New salesman is Andy, not Dave:blast

Grimsby is my local dealer. I have had 3 BMs and despite taking my business to them in the first instance have yet to buy a bike from them! Also looked at a helmet and gloves and still waiting for them to phone me when they get the right size in. Needless to say, I have my helmet and gloves....

I wonder if the new guy at marshalls knows what an uphill battle he has on his hands to get customers back.

Not a rumour, Mr Personality Bypass, is moving from Marshall's to Rainbow.
Bet there's a few others leaving before long.

Has Ian actually left? He still seems to be answering & directing the calls? :augie

Left before Christmas is my understanding. Haven't been in this week and won't be near til the end of the month. I've never known him answer or direct the calls? Usually you go through to a recorded message with options. The voice on that is Sean's.

Was there Tuesday, Ian gone, new sales manager in residence ...

The end of an era indeed!
