An other year, an other battery ! 2012 1200GS battery recommendation, preferably one that lasts longer an a year ! Those who have fixed Lithium, what's been you experience as proposed to normal batteries ? Are they worth the extra cost or is it just cheaper, to replace them once a year with a regular one ?

I found that "normal" batteries lasted about 3 weeks longer than the warranty.

I went down the lithium route and it's still going fine 3 years later.

The OEM battery lasted 7 yrs on my 2011. Fitted a lithium 2yrs ago and it's been working perfectly ever since. Niko idea if it'll do 7hrs, but it seems to give a proper punch when it starts up, hot or cold. Starts first time every time.

My odyssee has been on my bike since before July 2008.
I've just pulled my bike out this weekend for the first time since last November. It's not been on a trickle charger at all ever. I plugged a normal charger onto it for just 30 mins just to give it a boost and it fired the bike straight up. (I don't have the alarm self arming so it's not been draining the battery, I guess it would be different if I had something putting a drain on it)
Had a motobatt on my TL for a number of years.

Thanks guys, mine been rested for the winter months on a trickle change but when starting it this week, would hardly turnover, had to use a pocket jumpstart. Which make of Lithium did you use and were there any problems fitting it regards size ?

Size might be an issue. Mine was much smaller in two dimensions, one dim was a good match (the width).

I packed it the empty spaces with some 25mm neoprene I had

Thank you, so which manufacture did you use. Size in this case doesn't matter as long as it going fit in, as you said, it can be packed.

There is a brand spankers Oddysey battery for sale at the mo in the sales and wants ;)

both my BMW ones died under 5 years, the replacement odyssey was dead at 4.5 (but came back to life when topped up and is still going 14 month on), the KTM is dead at 2 years 2 months !!! and the new yuasa one on the Suzuki died and I hadn't even ridden it... it was just in the garage and got upset in 2 years
