An R1200GSA earlier today

:D Not wishing to concern 1200 owners......but I would hate to think that you would all be very concerned every time you braked hard, wondering if the ball joint could fail. yeah, put it out of your mind...if you can:augie

Do you ever fly? Not that what I could tell you would worry you :jibber much

Anyway as we've gone :topic there's accidents and accidents. Stopping in 1mm from 15 kph will cause a lot more damage / pain than if it was over 100mm. It would to me anyway :o

Front ends

Sorry to disappoint you slower owners but I remember talking to a guy who was on an 1100, two up,when he accelerated smartly into the rear of another bike on a BMW club run here in NI. The front end collapsed just like those shots above of the Adv 12. All who witnessed it were aghast and vowed never to have a GS.
Arn't all the models roughly similar at the front anyway?;)

Not Helpfull!!

Speculation does NOT help!!!!!!!!!!! :spitfire I almost pulled out of buying a 1200GS last year because of this type of thread. I have owned maybe 20 or so GS's and had very little problem apart from a clutch on a new 06 1200 GS, which I promptly sold. I have just got around to overcoming all the negative threads and bought a new 07 1200GS, which I love. Threads like this, however light hearted they may appear, DO NOTHING for GSing and biking in general. Rant-off! :D

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya

I rode my 1200gs into a car:blast at 40 mph and it pivoted around the ball joint and bent the upper stanchion and then snapped the top yoke and then bent the steel frame bolted to the engine and the ball joint still didnt break.

Striaghted the frame, new stanchion and top yoke and back on the road with same ball joint.

There's me thinking they crash really well !!!:augie

What, like I used to be indecisive but now I am not so sure.
Who is buying your bikes?, you or the forum!

I bought my GS cos its the bike I wanted, had I wanted a Triumph then I would have bought that.
No amount of negative reporting on forums would have put me off.
What would you have done if you were not able to access the web?

Do not think you should buy a Honda either,

Selling a faulty clutch to someone is appauling.

Best thing to do to a Goldwing in my opinion torch it for the insurance!!!:D

Have to agree with the rant about this thread, it is irresponsible to worry people unnecessarily, if the ditch was full of rocks and 40 feet deep it doesnt matter how fast he was going it will still feck up the bike!

Mind you anyone who believes the bollocks on this site shouldnt even consider buying a bike.
