Andorra

So how much of CS310 is paved and how much is not paved? What is the condition of the unpaved section?

C310

I came up from the La Massana (sp?) side, and it was paved right to the top in very good (race track condition). At the top we stopped in the lay by and watched the deer wander off into the woods, and then started down towards Encamp. After less than 100 meters (maybe 150) it turned unpaved. We continued (very slowly) round the first corner, and could see a few hundred meters of unpaved. We stopped discussed whether we should look round the next corner, and decided not to bother, and went back down the way we came.

Our guess was it was unpaved all the way down, but it IS a guess. Let me know if anyone finds out (knows) I'd like to do the other side if it's paved 90% of the way.

Cheers

Mark

Thanks Markie, if no one answers before we try it I will let you know whats down the rest of the road.

i came up through andorra in june this year sporting a cheapo pair of boots - i ventured into the bmw dealership where a nice salesman was in the process of setting up the bike side of the business - i ended up purchasing a pair of contour goretex boots and a pair of bmw leather gloves with nice breathable inserts - the price was certainly less than the dealership at home though not by a great margin - there are plenty of biking apparel shops in this vicinity however they are not exactly throwing the gear away - with regard to the electronic shops - i had sufficient reason for considering a new digital camera having had mine blagged in the Port Vell area of Barcelona - if anyone tries flogging you a canon a75 with a card full of images you know who it belongs to - anyway i didn't think the electronic prices were much of a deal either - i ended up buying a cheapo from the Geant hyper market in france for 99 euros - a little concord eyeQ 4060af which takes quite good images for the price - i left andorra heading for carcasonne and the roads were spot on - and the moral of this - watch out for those theiving spanish gippos !!!

One word of warning.....we were there last week and the road leading up to Andorra is bristling with Cops as someone found out to their peril. They are dishing out on the spot fines to the unwary so beware - you have been warned. Also coming back into France and entering Spain, the Customs Officers seem to be quite fastidious and were checking lots of people so be careful what you buy in Andorra and how you transport it or you could end up paying more than you bargained for.
Andorra struck me as being nothing more than a congested shopping center stuck on top of a mountain....but I guess it's Ok to see it once. I don't feel any need to go back again when there is so much more and better elsewhere.

Yeah but to be fair unless you are the sort of person who likes to use all of the road and cross white lines with complete disrespect for the law, you are bound to get busted eventually.

Isn't that right GECKO? :D
