Just watched the video and I'm not quite sure what it will do for me (on my late TC GSA) that my Nav V won't. Maybe I'm not their target audience.
Emmm......For those who think that having AA or Apple car play is a panacea for bike navigation. I have Android Auto/Apple car play on the Honda Africa Twin AS I'm currently running. Google maps are great as a point to point navigation aid. However, you cannot follow a GPX route with Google maps or waze and for whatever reason google have nobbled its own routing software "Google MyMaps" so that Google maps cannot directly follow a route created in "Google MyMaps". That leaves you with looking for third party navigation applications that work with GPX files and AA/Apple Car play. I know of three at the moment OSMand, Myroute app and tom tom (there are probably more). The AT implementation of AA/Apple CP is wired but honda didn't think to provide a place for the phone. When I'm using it I bung an old phone in an old lowpro camera bag attached to the handlebar.
I have a years subscription to OSMand and it does work happily following a GPX file route. I use it as a backup. If you are in an area with poor mobile phone coverage (or you have roaming charges) you need to make sure you download the maps you will be using) However bumpy roads can disrupt the wired connection and I think I would only use a secondary phone attached to the bike rather than my primary device. Also some of the navigation apps are very power hungry and the connected phone may loose charge over the time the nav app is being used. (OSMand does not seem to do this in my testing by the way)
All in all its less of a faff for me to use a garmin Zumo XT. Just a point of view of someone who uses AA in the car and has the option to use it on the bike but by in large does not.

The reason for carplay is then you can use the navigating software of choice, for instance i use Calimoto a lot. Be good to have that on the bike without using my phone strapped to the bike.You really want CarPlay on a bike?
The latest iteration of Apple Car Play in cars, will now replicate the vehicle’s other functions, like heating controls, seat positions etc. The thought is that the car manufacturers will drop their own visualisation of these controls and rely entirely on Apple’s. This saves cost. It also has the advantage that, for every car or van fitted this way that the driver gets into, these controls will always be displayed in the same place on the screen. This is apparently popular with customers.
The premise is sound, until the 3rd party supplier gets too big for there boots, and then tries to see who has the biggest cahooonas
, and suddenly what is taken as standard, suddenly becomes a micro transaction, then a subscription...With annual price rises...

Just popped up on a link to the new Nav 6 replacement that is compatible with all bmw bikes back to 2014 , interesting that they have made a Nav6 replacement .
Lets just hope that BMW and Garmin have got their act together also notable that it is not being launched as the Navigator VII

I think that is because it’s not a GPS device in the sense that the Nav VI was. It is much more of a BMW centric product. running their own ‘Connected’ app, rather than Garmin software.
I would speak to a dealer but get the impression that it will work with all of the whizzy wheel mounts with degrees of connectivity
If it works like the BMW connected app for the car I can get a destination and send it to the car. I can also upload gpx files to the phone to send to the car and a few other things
I think the car version uses HERE mapping....can't see what the Motarrad app uses for mapping

Is it any thing to do with the introduction of the wonder wheel ?
I feel a new sub-section coming on, when this thing of wonder hits the streets.
It probably doesn’t do as much as a standalone phone is capable of. What it probably does is to enable the owner to separate their phone on the bike, maybe putting it where it is least likely to come to grief or overheat.
That the separate device will spawn a whole raft of security measures (oddly usually neglected when bikermates have their phone mounted to the bike) to ensure bad men don’t steal the new device, is a given.
