You can buy a refrub kit from Bing which includes new bushes and throttle spindle (if it's been loose for a while, the spindle wears and needs replacing too). However it all looks pretty simple - if you've got access to a machine shop it should be fairly simple to knock up a few bushes out of phosphor bronze and a new shaft (if required). I think Steve Scriminger makes his own parts when he refurbishes TB's. I have a little lathe and have thought about making some bushes for my ticking TB's but I'll probably bottle out and end up sending them to Scriminger this winter

Apparently the original bushes are shrunk into place and can take some removing (you might have to drill them out). Dry ice or liquid nitrogen would be handy to shrink the new ones in.

Hmm, a fairly horrid bodge IMO and given that Scriminger will do a full refurb for £50 a side, just not worth it (and they only fit the right hand TB due to the throttle position sensor on the left).

Also... Do any Gs'ers who have had their TB's "Scrimingered" have any feedback as to it making their bikes smoother and easier to set up?

Ticking I can put up with but my GS bouncing through traffic jams at slow speeds can be a PIA. Yes, i have done the TPS, balanced the TB's, changed o rings etc, etc over the years.

Scrimmingered TB's

Hi Wrigsby1

I had my TB's 'Scrimmingered' earlier this year (shortly after he rebuilt my gearbox!)

Steve provided an excellent service and the TB's came back as good as, if not better, than new.

If you look into a thread titled loomin' Hell you will find a lot of posts regarding kangarooing (whey there Skippy) and all sorts of stuttering when running at an even throttle in traffic.

After I put on the refurbed TB's the bike was transformed and ran better than it has ever done and still does.

You will also see on that thread a very new post by ScubaSparky who also suffered all manner of surging and he has just reported that his recently refurbed TB's also cured his woes.

Hope you get sorted

Cracking feedback. It is one of the last things on the list to be honest and this GS has kangarooed the worst out of 3. I have ridden quite a few R1100's when working for a dealer and there was amazing variation in 'em for many of the umpteen reasons given in threads.

I missed much of "loomin' hell" after about page 2:augie I'll have a read. Cheers:thumb
