Well done Dennis

I've purposely missed out the Elan Valley and Abergwesyn bits as we seem to do that rather a lot during the year so I've tried to work in a few of the lesser travelled roads.

Abergwesyn et all done to death now I reckon, it's as though it's the only road in wales......................Will we be using the drop off system??? i'm sure you are and i'll be happy to tail end for ya':thumb.
All being well we will have a couple of hundred out on the day to mee tfriends old and new :clap :clap :clap

Thanks Fred. Yes, drop off system will be used. For any not familiar with the system, this is how it works. Understanding the system is important, as every rider needs to do their part to avoid anyone getting lost.

One rider, the leader, will stay at the front and is responsible for navigating the route. Another rider, tail end charlie, will stay at the back in last position. These are the only two riders who maintain their position in the group.

At every junction, the leader will point to where the rider immediately behind the leader should stop and mark the junction and indicate the route which the other members of the group should follow. All other riders pass the marker except the 'tail end charlie'. The marker then re-joins the group in front of 'tail end charlie'.

This approach involves all the group and the marker gets rotated from front to back and naturally moves up to the front again. The method works provided everyone makes clear, safe markings and doesn't forget they are in the No.2 position, when it is their turn to mark.

Nobody other than the sweeper is allowed to ride last for any reason whatever. If you want to leave the group you should pull in to the left in a safe, visible position and wave other riders past. When the sweeper arrives he will stop and you can then inform him/her that you are leaving the group.

This system means that nobody is under any pressure to try to keep up as they know the route will be marked. Tail-end Charlie will be identified by a yellow "Beaky" bib.

At the risk of being really boring I will run through it at Abergavenny for any riders still in doubt:rob

This sounds like fun!!!
I've escorted everything from abnormal loads to high security prisoners to the Queen and they never go according to plan. No wonder you call it the 'drop off system' Cant wait!!:illbe

Does someone want to start a new post for this,as I think a lot of people are getting confused by all the different date mentioned(there's always someone who fell out of the stupid tree and hit their head on every branch on the way down)

And if I'm tail end charlie again,I'm not wearing a feckin bib of any kind.So there:P

Don't panic Vern, Matkat has already volunteered, although we may well be looking for a second leadre if too many turn up:clap

I'll set up another thread with a poll to try and find out just how many are likely to turn up each day:bow
