I would recommend Mike (ex-BVM) wholeheartedly. I've put my money where my mouth is, in that he's looked after my bikes at BVM for the last 10-12 years or so, & will continue to do so now he's an "independent" BMW specialist.
Had my VFR1200X serviced today, cost me £128 and that included an NC750S loan bike. A refreshing change to BMW dealer prices and the next service is not for 8000 miles (though will give it an oil change myself at the halfway mark)
Saw mike at Stroud motorcycles in Stroud on Friday.
Annual service including brake fluid replace and mot - £200
Immaculate workshop, great service and can honestly say bike feels best it's felt for years after mikes attention. Not sure what he fettles but much smoother power delivery, just puts a big smile on your face.
Had bike serviced at two different main dealers over last 2 years and it never felt as good as it did on Friday.
Need to nip back for a fork seal which was picked up on service/mot. Mike getting bits in and calling to fit on a drive in basis.
During service mike lent me a tidy scooter to nip into Stroud, had a couple of hours at a nice cafe - black books cafe Stroud, got a couple of hours work done, very nice coffee and a slice of cake.
I have no link to mike at cotswold motorbikes other than his work before at BVM, hope business goes well for him and others find his place as good as I did.
I intend to use Steptoe, but the wheel flange recall needs doing so I thought I'd book it all together - 30k service, approx. £350 (inc) at Tunbridge BMW - sounds a lot?
Cheers
Rich
ps I just checked the schedule, and its basically £350 for an oil change and valve clearances?!!
pps just phoned Park Lane BMW (near my office) and they quoted the same. He reckoned on 3-4 hours work - bollocks!

Maybe it's me but what is so techie about oil, plug, hydraulic changes. I remember being overawed by my 1976 ducati 900 Desmo valve clearances I took it all the way down to a main ducati dealer in Yorks waited and waited for the first service to finish and no they didn't check the tappets. After that I did them myself no more bloody miles and miles to find that something's aren't done properly. Most of you guys must have common sense and after all that's all the servicing requires. Had an old fisherman bud used to say "heck they put men on the moon, get yer sleeves up laddie"
