I'd like to remove the ABS (non servo brakes) from my 2001 1150GS. I'm perfectly capable of doing the work, but not of working out what to do! So is there a step by step (preferably with pics) guide to doing the job somewhere on here? If so, could someone post me a link please, as I'd like to do the job v soon.

Many thanks in anticipation.

I'm in Leicester with a bike that was de servo'd. If you want to drop round I can show you what needs doing.

Edit: ah you mean non servo. In that case just replace distribution piece at the front. In any any case its the same between servo and non servo on that bit.

But under the tank, there's a bloody great heavy unit, that is the abs 'system' I think. I'd like to get rid of all all that while I'm doing the job, and just end up with a simple braking system with no unnecessary bits and bobs.

Remove the ABS modulator, fit non abs brake lines at the front ( the rear will fit direct from the caliper to the master cylinder), pull out the abs relays and job done.

Thanks for that Steptoe... I'll give it a go. If I get confused (quite likely!) I may be back with more questions. Or you may read somewhere about a GSer having suffered brake failure!!

Many thanks to you Mr. Steptoe. I've just castrated my '04 1150 servoed ABS bike and it is now has reliable and effective brakes.
