I've been thinking of getting an Autocom for some time but one thing is bugging me. How do I turn the thing off while on the move? Specifically, when listening to music on the motorway can I switch to silent/mute to concentrate on filtering?

Also I noted from Judge a thread on ear canal plugs. How do these connect? Do you end up with multiple wires to connect each time you get on the bike?

Cheers Jim

Simply turn off the source of the music!

I use a bar mounted RDS radio which feeds directly to the bike mounted Autocom.

The solution here requires a special loom to be made up to interface the Autocom helmet set to the ear-plugs. These can be made by:

Are the radio and MP3 waterproof?
Not especially, but they still work even after having got wet a few times!
Burfcontrol Could I link an I-pod into the radio and control it from there??
I don't know much about iPod - don't they have a hard drive? I chose the MP3 player because it uses CompactFlash memory (no moving parts) and has controls big enough to use with a gloved hand.
Originally posted by Burfcontrol said:
Where did you get the radio from?
It's a Sony SRF-M48RDS. This place appears to have them at £40.
