Another Excellent BTBR Light Job…..

Thanks to that fine fellow BTBR, who provides a superb ride in ride out service, I now have some awesome aux lights adorning my 12.

The lower lights are Hella Micro DE driving lights which come on with the low beam (or can be switched off). The top ones are Hella FF50’s for
main beam. All fitted to a MiGsel light bar and BTBR custom loom.

Who needs HID’s when these are so effective.

The good thing about HID's is that you get 2 1/2 times the light output for 2/3 the power - 35W vs 55V (saves the alternator, etc) or 4 times the light output for slightly less power - 50W vs 55W.

I reckon BTBR's conversion with:
50W HID's in the main and dip
and
35W HID's in the Hella fog and driving lights
would be the absolute ultimate

I've not got the FF50's but have the rest of the set-up! (makes other 1200's look like their lights are candle powered )

I used a waterproof PIAA switch bought separately but the easiest place to fit it was on the fairing - see pic. Is there a better solution around I wondered...

I'd keep an eye on that Hella relay, it's not waterproof

My personal preference for a switch is one supplied by Peakmoto in the US.

They will post to Europe and the cost is resonable. Totally waterproof and when fitted is in keeping with the bikes original switchgear.

I also have my PIAA switch fitted there, only its on the right side...this location seems absolutely fine to me.

Thanks guys, noted. If I hadn't been in such a rush to get the lights installed I would have done a proper job a la BTBR (under the tank I think?). Maybe I will resite the relays this summer... so far I've been lucky.

How much did that setup cost ? I have just had a low beam Hid fitted which is very good thanks Les wassell
I will have the high beam fitted before the dark nights return.
£120 pound for low beam and bracket even if you double that to £250 for both ...How does that compare to your setup ?

We get a lot of bikes turn up to our Monthly Gs meet with all sorts of lighting setups Spots Hids etc,and when you see them at night a good Hid setup seems to be the best
