I have a new GS1250 triple black arriving this week and as they come std with black non spoked wheels (one of my reasons for going for the triple black) I was just wondering has anyone sprayed their wheels gold and if so how did it look. I’m seriously tempted to do this when it arrives. Any thoughts?

As said, stick with black. The TB's look good on black wheels IMHO. I'm not sure what it would do to residuals when you come to move it on (maybe nothing?) but at least worth bearing in mind.

I like the gold spokes but just not the bother of keeping them clean. Hence went for cast option. Just thought they might look well gold! Maybe your right, maybe just overthinking things..

The question of gold spokes on TBs aside, I think having the casts sprayed gold would raise eyebrows as well as have a knock on for residual values. private or even dealer. Don't!

keep em black, a TB is Black not black and gold

Black non spoked wheels on the TB ? - How long have BMW been doing that then? :duno

So are spokes on the GS TB are now a cost option?

Yes. I guess the thinking is that those who like the off-road look will go for the Rallye, which has the gold or black spoked wheels as part of the package. As far as I recall, they have always been optional on non-Rallye versions, such as the Exclusives.

Reggie off this very site did his bikes cast wheels gold.

I must admit, i did wonder the same,i like black and gold. I have a Triple Black GS with black cast wheels. I guess its true it may effect resale value but if thats what you want, go for it, your money, your choice.

Now I have to say Reggie’s gold wheels looks well smart (in my opinion only) but mine don’t have the gold callipers. Maybe i should go the whole hog and get them done as well !!!

The only other thing is his rear wheel is wider than the stock GS cast wheel (they are from an RS iirc). Unfortunately to fit the RS wheels correctly also means changing the swingarm, otherwise the wheel is out of alignment, so not an simple job.

Check out BMW Martin on Facebook. They have some great options. Need to be careful on the colour of the gold.

Top picture works for me. As you say, it is very dependent on the shade of gold. Decisions decisions..
