Hi Tossers,
Got my GS two days ago after ten years of riding a very economical yet small Suzuki van van.
I rode RT80's for a courier company (1985) for six months and knew from then the Beemers had a reliable & virtually
indestructible build quality that I could only aspire to owning due to cost (kids, wife & unemployment.. you know the score).
Well, here we are, the kids have left home, the wife does her own thing and I now own an "07" 25k, GS with panniers, running lights & crash bars.
I took it out for the first time Sunday, not really knowing if I could get my head around the sheer size & power of a 1200!
No test drive, just jumped straight in and rode the damn thing.
OMG it's so fooking comfortable, the seat, the riding position, the commanding view you have of the road and with a little surprise the respect you get from other
drivers gawping at such a fantastic machine that looks down on them with "God-like" reverance. And not's let forget the sheer exhilaration of the front end lift off as
I tested the acceleration and the sphincter clenching relief of those "Brembo's" engaging, bringing me back to sub-light-speed that I had relied on so many years ago.
OK, Monday morning, it's pissing with rain and I'm off to work. Usually I'm soaked by the time I get to work, but the only real soaking I got was a "Full-face" power-shower to my open face helmet, boots stayed dry enough not to have to suffer the "wet-sock" syndrome and I managed the journey with far less H2O adsorbed than expected. note: I'm getting some better boots.
I have reached Nirvana, I am at one with the world & my bike, my name is Guy, thanks for reading.
