Another load of Garmin shite

Did you de-register your old 660 on myGarmin and register the new one? If not, then it's possible that the new maps have been unlocked to the unit ID of your old unit which you returned to Garmin. Best to phone Garmin support to sort this one out, I think.

Thanks, but didn't have to, they did that. I plugged in the new one when it came and they had swapped the SN's over and it worked with my garmin no problem.

What's pissed me off no end is I have spent weeks planning this trip all POI's are marked on the route which I cannot now get into the bloody thing and I leave in 11 hours with a unit that is giving all sorts of shit and just wont do what it should.

I only found out yesterday that I could not send the route to the dam thing and despite hours today and buying the lifetime upgrade i'm still left regretting ever buying a Garmin.

Its not the money, If i could buy a tom tom rider at 10.30PM and fit it now I would but the bike is packed and its rather too late.

My goal now is to get rid of this fakin stupid "can't unlock maps" message and just use it to navigate to the poi's I saved weeks ago that are still there in the zumo but Map source tells me are not.

Thanks to all

Al

OK then, try a hard reset by pressing down and holding the on button for at least 8 seconds. This will put the unit back to how it came from the factory. Maps etc will remain in situ but other personal entries such as favourites and home location etc will need to be reentered.

Following any firmware/maps updates it is always advisable to do a soft reset which is achieved by pressing and holding the bottom right hand corner of the screen whilst pressing the on switch as normal to turn on i.e. not for the minimum of 8 seconds this time. A warning will come up asking if you are sure which of course you should press the yes.

Thanks, Can't risk a hard or soft reset as its got all the POI's in it for the trip I go on in less than 11 hours. This has taken weeks to plan and they are placed so that we go on only the best roads all studied from hours on google earth. If I Hard reset then I won't sleep at all tonight and have no idea if it will wake up again the way it is performing.

Thanks for suggestion, much appreciated.

Cheers Garmin:censor:

plan the route in google maps then send it to the gps - works wth my tom tom :nenau

If TomTom made a unit that had the same spec as the 660, I'd be far happier without Garmin's utter software farce.

I've never bothered, creating routes on MapSource or RoadTrip, I don't have enough spare hours in my life to give to Garmin. Google Maps IMHO is a far better tool, and I'd rather see garmin give up and stick Android on the 660 :-)

I'm super happy with the 660 as a device.
