Another mystery trip involving many wheels!

Mightily pissed off with Nightjet.
Got on to find that there were no sleeping compartments...as I had booked...they had been replaced with couchette rooms.
The upside was that as the couchette rooms are designed to have 6 folk in, with 2 folk in there was more room.
One of the downsides is that the couchette beds are quite neat, and I am not. Also there is no basin; we have to traipse down the corridor and share with ordinary people.
Another downside was no breakfast....if I had known we could have bought grub in the station.
The wifey explained we would get a refund, so thats 2 refunds to be negotiated on return home. Hmmm...what fun..
I guess that the sleeper we were moved out of on the way down is still being mended, and they don't have a spare.

I suppose we'll still get wafted up the Rhine to Amsterdam whilst dozing, so not too much of a hardship....it's just the breakfast....bastards...

I expect it would be a lovely ride in daylight....

The Nightjet operation is trying to capitalise on the growing trend of using trains to get around Europe rather than short haul jets.
OBB the Austrian railway company have set up quite a few long distance overnight routes all around Europe, of which this is one....I would think it's an expensive option, as the dedicated carriages only get used once a day...big investment.
Good idea, but they'll need to up their game a wee bit.
Makes you appreciate the Caledonian Sleeper even more!

Into a bright sunny Dutch morning...and inadequate breakfast....dozed a fair bit, and Cherry, who can fit on the couchette things better than me, got a half decent sleep.
I would have been better off in a proper seat...the couchettes are a bit hard on your arse....but as long as Cherry is restored to full Nina -ness we'll get through.
Due in Amsterdam at 0914.

And yet more culture and works of art in the Rijksmuseum.
The famous 'Nightwatch' by Rembrandt, lots of other paintings and a collection of far eastern artifacts...The Netherlands having had a long relationshipvwith the east.

We've been here before but what drew me this time was a temporary exhibition by Frans Hals...some of you will recognise this one...
