Another mystery trip involving many wheels!

Jump on the coach at the station for 40 minute ride to the boat, whistle through check in, border control and customs, up to the cabin on deck 6.
Very nice plenty big enough, huge bathroom and shower, 2 windows, free bar, welcome pastries.
Never seen one of these before, can't see the point, but each to their own....

Time for a luxurious shower and change before we cast off. Great, especially after a night in that shitty couchette...there will be strongly worded communications....they don't know who they are dealing with...

Shipping forecast looks ok, doesn't bother me, but wifey feels it....odd for someone who spent a lot of her working life in the WRNS..PO Wren, but they never went to sea then.

Suppose if all the booked pax are on they can go.
Seemed plenty of room on the way out, and the same this way....good time to travel I guess.

Got on to find that there were no sleeping compartments...as I had booked...they had been replaced with couchette rooms.
The upside was that as the couchette rooms are designed to have 6 folk in, with 2 folk in there was more room.
One of the downsides is that the couchette beds are quite neat, and I am not. Also there is no basin; we have to traipse down the corridor and share with ordinary people.
Another downside was no breakfast....if I had known we could have bought grub in the station.
The wifey explained we would get a refund, so thats 2 refunds to be negotiated on return home. Hmmm...what fun..
I guess that the sleeper we were moved out of on the way down is still being mended, and they don't have a spare.

I suppose we'll still get wafted up the Rhine to Amsterdam whilst dozing, so not too much of a hardship....it's just the breakfast....bastards...

I expect it would be a lovely ride in daylight....

At the very least I would have thought nightjet would have E mailed you in advance about the changes in service :nenau
 
Hook back to Harwich ferry? If so I will look down and wave. Will take off from Rotterdam in about an hour towards City airport and we fly right over Europoort. Always see the ferry just below us! Cheers
 
Relaxing night on Princess Seaways.
Good sleep, sea getting a bit moderate on the run up the coast towards the Tyne, but nothing too much.
 
An early check of the NS&I app tells me my extravagance of last night in the sea shop is paid for!
Yup...mostly whisky although you have to be careful, some of the prices are more than Tescos...but Grouse at 12 quid a litre is good for sharing, and Bruichladdich at 30 odd quid a litre is a good buy...hope the ninja wife is in good form for humping suitcases about today...a little schlep to Waverley and then onto Perth...

Shame, this bit of the journey is usually the best views...not today...mist, rain and clart..

Going to be over 30 mins late into Embra which is good, we get 'LNER delay repay'!, but still got time for connection to Perth....

Man, money coming from every direction!

A blunder!
Failed to get Commodore Class on the train from Edi to Perth.
Stuffed full of ordinary people and their noisy offspring....foul!
Luckily most of them got off in Fife, so tranquility returned for the last few minutes of the journey...bliss!
Only 5 or 6 minutes late.
An interesting....superb...10 days...
