........well a third hand one actually.

The system originally belonged to Boz, who then sold it to Franky, who then sold it to me three weeks ago just before I p1ssed off to Northen Spain on the GS.

I got back earlier this week and, with a day off today, had the choice of clean the bike after the trip or fit the new exhaust.............. mmmmmmmm, dificult one that!

Well it was fitted over lunch and, apart from a 'where does that centre mounting bracket go' moment (thanks Franky!) it all went on very easily. And, boy, is that original can heavy, although, surprisingly enough, even with the 'cat' the front sections on both systems are a similar weight - must be the fatter tubing of the Bos system?

I'm very impressed with the looks, the whole systems looks, IMHO, 'right' on the bike and the build and weld quality is outstanding.

So what's it done to the performance? Well, to be honest, I wasn't expecting much, maybe a bit of extra top end but not much else.

:nono :nono Wrong, wrong wrong.

From pull away the bike feels smoother and stronger - it's a lot more tractable - a good example is that of trying to stick to exactly 30 mph (been having to do this for my IAM :( ), this has always involved cog swapping between 2nd and 3rd, now it will pull cleanly in third right down to 20 mph.
From 3000 revs it pulls a lot more strongly and, the best bit, where the bike used to dip at around 5000 revs this has just gone altogether :) From 5250, well, the bike just takes off and just keeps pulling all the way to the rev. limiter.

The engine really has been transformed and, TBH, I'm probably the most surprised by just how much :D :D

Next job, then, is to get it dyno'd as I've a little niggling worry at the back of my mind about how lean theese engines run and the effect the pipe maay have on this - I'll report back once done.

Oh, and did I mention how good it sounds - and that's with the db eater in :D

Thanks Boz and Franky :thumb

Or at least.....think of poor Boz's feelings. He's already as sick as a parrot about selling it.

yes??

crossed my mind too. Was just about to buy the can only but waiting to see how much narrower Metal Mule new pannier frames are first to suit there scorpion can. Boxes stick out a long way at the moment to allow for standard can, what overall dimension is the BOs, perhaps you could measure and let me know so i can cross reference with scorpion
Thanks

Boz, sadly according to Schtum ;) , had to sell it to finance a trip through the Americas on his GS and Franky decided to sell to finance a somewhat posher exhaust, you know, those ones with two silencers - tart ;)

So, nothing wrong with the exhaust, honest, far from it in fact :D

Some dimensions that may help (inacuratley measured by me):

Standard can diam. (at widest point): 129mm

Bos can diam. (at widest point): 111mm

Distance from outside edge of bikes mounting bracket and outside of can: 65mm

Standard can to BMW pannier gap aprox. 15mm

Bos can to BMW pannier gap aprox. 65mm

I had my BOS exhaust fitted about 400 miles ago and I'm extremely happy with it. I'm unsure about the power increase, it seems a little flat at low revs, but at higher revs (above 5000) it's excellent, so I'm going to get it dynod asap. As for the sound and the looks superb. Roy of RGM in Tarleton will fit for free if you buy the exhaust through him.

YEP...its true, had to sell it to help finance the trip, which now is onl 2 weeks from starting!

Loved the system to bits, sounds fantastic and does make a difference to the bikes performance.

Cheers
