Been a member for a few weeks but not posted. I need some new panniers for an Adv, just wondering which are the best?

I've got the genuine GSA aluminium panniers. I can't fault them but they are expensive. The cheapest option is probably 2nd hand genuine system panniers, if you wanted more space then you could fit Global lids in place of the Touring lids fitted as standard. A good 2nd hand set would cost in the region of £200, a pair of mounting rails in the region of £30 and new global lids £100 +. The system panniers are probably the best option for most people.

The ally ones fitted to a lot of bikes (Touratech, Metal mule and the likes) are just for poseurs and pretend "round the worlders" :hide

Panniers

Thanks Macca they do look the B*ll*cks, not really sure about the cost though, will have to go into the local BMW place and find out.

Thanks :thumb

It depends on what you want from them. It's an expensive purchase so I suggest you shop around a bit and have a proper look (take them on/off etc not just a quick look).

I've used a few systems but have found the Metal Mules to be the best for my needs.

Which I guess makes me a poseur in Mr Farmer's eyes

I actually use the bike for work as well as pleasure and it's used all year in all weathers so my panniers are important as they get constant use - not just the odd camping weekend.
