It sits in between the frame and top yolk - there’s a recess in the frame for the spacer

Had similar random rattle / vibration on my RS, on some uneven / pot holed surfaces felt it up to about 30 mph, changed both ball joints as it's done 90000 miles, bit better, had to stop to adjust slipping clutch on the way back from the Isle of Mull in May, so had to get tools out from storage behind rear seat, tools had worn through the tool roll and were rattling against the frame rails
