*************Link to vid is at the bottom if you can't be arsed reading my ride report***************

So that's me had my BM for about 3 weeks now and during that time I have managed to put a decent 1200miles on her (well at least for working 5days a week and considering that only involved about 20miles of motorway!), taking a healthy bite out of the chicken strips and allowing me to dial in the seat, screen, pegs and controls to be the most comfortable.

Even got my first scratches on her too - blew over on the side-stand in a lay-by when I went off to have a piss and ended up cracking the RHS rocker cover making it trickle oil (cost £145 to replace - won't be making that mistake again!). Should prob buy some decent engine guards now too - the plastic ones are obviously gash!

Absolutely not regretting my purchase either one bit though (which is always nice!). Only downside is that with so many aftermarket accessories available for the thing I'm struggling to restrain myself! SO far I've managed to keep it to purely functional purchases - extended mudguards and adapters for the power sockets to allow charging of mobiles. However the purchase of a satnav is on the horizon and I can't help but be tempted by the Akrapovic downpipes (minus cat) plus power commander to go with my Akra end can...will most likely use the money on fuel though...

Anyway, here's another of the roads from these parts - the (in)famous Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle, or the Applecross Pass). Its another road which highlights why I love these type of bikes - sure it can be done on a sports-bike (and its not the hardcore off-road stuff that some of you do), but I love the height/presence to see over rocks, having massive wide bars to tip it in, long travel suspension (and ESA) to soak up all the potholes, a torquey motor which pulls from low down (see the hairpins around 3:30) and it's also nice to have the ABS as the roads can get quite gravelly in patches!

Anyway comments, as always, appreciated!

A nice video, I rode that one last summer :thumb2 my favourite bit was the coast road to the pass coming from the North, GSes are great bikes on those type of roads.

Fantastic bit of road-have done it twice, last year (Sept) we left it a bit late crossing over to Applecross to camp overnight-loads of Deer each side of the road, can be hard to spot as sun goes down:eek:

It doesn't count unless you go to the very top.... I've been to the transmitter mast on a bike. Bloody scary :eek:

Cheers guys, glad you like - I'm planning to update my youtube channel more over the coming weeks and months with a few more choice roads from north of the border - doing my bit for the ailing economy and all!

Why have you got a dummy stuck on your screen?

Ha! It's blatantly a cupholder! (or suction mount for a TomTom One, you decide)

I was up there last Saturday, good road & even better weather for a change, I was on my Blade but saw plenty GS's. Need to save more & get a new GS :)
Did you buy your bike from Ivor at Calterdon ?

Did you buy your bike from Ivor at Calterdon?

...I did...presume you've enquired too? nice guy, very helpful too.

The weather over the past few weeks has been stunning, absolutely stunning - I think I've managed about 2700miles in the last 4 weeks, and that only includes approx 20miles of Motorway!

Here's another pic from just around the corner form the turn-off to the Bealach taken on Monday;

I test rode the red GS @ Calterdons back in Dec with the intention of ordering a new white GS for March but the wife wanted to go to Florida @ Easter instead so a new bike will have to wait another few months untill I can save more £'s :drool
Keep us updated with all the toys you buy for it :flag
