Another pleasant Sunday for weather arrived, and a trip from Cumbria to Southern Scotland was in order. Just given bike a good service so was keen to get out there.

Set off up the A7 as last time, and called in Hawick again for a bite to eat at the theatre cafe / bar place.

Hawick has some interesting buildings, this one very Scots in design !

Heading from there to Selkirk, decided to try the A708 to Moffat as advised by a fellow reader. Thank you kind sir! well recommended.
The road starts off fairly ordinary

This is a lovely area. Saw the Cafe place to late - a good few bikes outside. The road then climbs up out of the valley to the top of the 'pass'.

Again, a few bikes about, and one or two GS's

The other side toward Moffat was a bit sunnier. An ideal GS road with loads of ups and downs for you to thrash your sports bike mates on..........

Then on to Moffat. Never been before, but very nice wide street and plenty of tea and cake shops.

After that didnt fancy the motorway so went via small back roads to Boreland and Eskdalemuir - a fantastic ride over the tops. Recommended. This is a place called Bentpath.

After this it was back to Langholm and the A7 to Carlisle, then home. Only about 200 miles but great scenery and roads which look nothing on the map.

Just want to do it again soon !!

Another good report there David. :clap:clap

The lowlands of Scotland are an area often overlooked by many, me included, but your reports are highlighting some great looking GS roads. Thanks for posting. :thumb2

The A708 is a great road - I found it a couple of years ago on a day trip to Scotland. Must visit it again shortly :thumb2
