Another shipping option bites the dust.

I learned tonight that the little fast craft that services the Larne Troon route has been sold with the result that, at the end of this season the service will be withdrawn altogether.

I have used that route many times myself as I'm sure many of you have too and found it to be pretty handy. So it looks like Cairnryan is now the only option available for shipping to Scotland.

I filled out an online survey with P&O last year, and it focused on the Troon route.

I was very strong in voicing the fact that I was very loyal to the company but only because of the Troon route. I use it about 3 times a year, car and bike.

I'd really hate to see it die. Saves 90 mins and that's worth a lot if doing hundreds of miles after you land.

A friend confirmed they are actively seeking a replacement from Scandanavia...... Here's hoping!

Used this ferry recently on a trip to Scotland. I found it very handy and reasonably priced. Hope they get a replacement vessel!

P&O confirmed today that the Troon service has been withdrawn permanently as it was not possible to sustain the losses made on the route.

Bummer! That was a handy sailing if you were heading up north. Now i will have to use the dreaded a77 which is riddled with speed cameras. :moped::moped::moped:

After the NW200 I often see speed traps along there.
One year they pulled every single bike over into a car park and checked them over.

Just booked a car and 4 for our family week away for Easter....... Ended up using Stena for the first in a long time.

I've used Troon for the previous five Easters!

I fear they will lose a lot more loyal customers as Stena runs nicer more modern ships.
