another warning. Don't update Mapsource to 6.14

I've loaded it onto a Vista and XP machine and in both cases it takes an age to refresh - bloody frustrating and I wish I could back it off to the previous version.:(

Snooty.... on Vista... when you select the maps round a route do they all show up on the map frame? On mine the pink shading only shows around the destination. But the map count tabe shows all the maps have been added.....

If I save the route, close Mapsource and go back in, open the route they arrive. Couldn't work out if it was Vista or Mapsource....

Has anyone managed to revert back after installing CN Europe 2009 NT ??
Dave

Yep: As said, there is someone on the Dutch GPS forum who made a small application to automaticaly revert back to 6.13.7 AND to make NT2009 maps working with it.
This programme is currently in Dutch only, but I am working with the maker on a translation.

For folks willing to try out the Dutch version, you can find it over here:

http://home.casema.nl/armin/zumo/cne2009converter.exe

The problem is that most people's computors haven't the ability to tun 6.14.1 at a similar speed to 6.13.7 so most prefer to use 6.13.7.

CN 2009 though updates Mapsource automatically, and apparently won't run with 6.13.7, which is why you'll see an my post regarding someone working on making 6.13.7 run with CN 2009. And then you'll have the most up-to-date maps, and a computor that isn't struggling to show the graphics :)

Ah, now I understand, thanks for that :thumb2 Wasn't I the smart one staying with 6.13.7 :D

Garmin will likely be at the NEC so a good opportunity to ask them some questions about the mapping updates

Bazaar that people have to write programs to remove updates from programs :eek but well done anyway :thumb2

Well!! We installed the fix,at first it seemed as if nothing had changed because after lauching mapsource the version number was unchanged and it was still slow. However when looking ing the Garmin program group there was a Mapsource 6.13.7 .exe icon and once executed launched mapsource into that version ...

Up to now it seems as if one has the choice of using either version .The only downside is the titles are in Dutch in 6.13.7, but if one knows ones way around Mapsource it will make little difference
Thanks for the help people!
Dave

The language versions are a point of attention at the moment (consider the Dutch version a full working & tested beta :augie )

As soon as I get a German & French volunteer translator, we can make some progress.

By the way: This does install 6.13.7 NEXT to 6.14.1, so you can have a choice. You can also delete 6.14.1 afterwards if you need the space.

Hey folks

I got two mails from willing volunteers to translate a few lines (24) in English / German & any other language you may know.

I have send these two a mail with the exel sheet.
Unfortunately I did not got any reply back.
If something went wrong with the mail adress, or you did reply but I did not get it, could you please send it again?

(or if there is some othere reason: please let me know.)

Bump,

I wish I could help ECM but I struggle with English, can someone with linguistic skills please help out, I’m sure there are many on here who can, I doubt it would take very long :)

I updated to 6.14 without seeing any of the warnings here.

As soon as I opened up Mapsource & used it I said to myself 'What the f*** have I done?'

System Restore is your friend! :thumb2

Just click 'Start' - 'Control Panel' - 'Performance & Maintainance' then click 'System Restore' on the left hand side.

Mapsource back to 'normal' again. :bow

I'm using both 6.13 and 6.14 together with various maps. Among them CNE2009NT. My computer is fast so speed is no big issue.

As soon as I want to do some productive work I use 6.13. Partly because 6.13 is faster but mostly because of the weird scaling in 6.14.

Is there anyone out there that know the reason why Garmin are using erroneous scaling in 6.14? What do they want to achieve? What are the advantages with this weird scaling????

If you are having problems re-installing MS v6.13.7;

first; do NOT un-install MS v6.14.1
second; delete C:\Garmin\MapSource.exe
third; install MS v6.13.7

De-installing MS (all versions) will sometimes corrupt the MapSource registry entries requiring a regedit and complete re-install of all your MapSource products.

All maps should run fine with MS v6.13.7

Cheers,
BM
