Another win for Telelever vs fork and the 1250 GS over the 1290 SADV-S !

Usually the press is F.O.S. but MCN & Ride had 2 interesting articles about the 1250GS vs R1250R / TELE-Lever vs Fork and a comparison 1250GS vs KTM 1290 SADV-S where they got it right !
Telelever won against the fork hands down...Much more composed.Effortless.No dive and more comfortable...We already knew that.With a 17" front wheel and less weight things could be even better...:thumby:
Against the 1290 KTM the 1250 GS also won in every category except for top end power.But in the real world the GS' superior torque makes it faster...:thumby:
A little more top-end and 17" front and the GS would be perfect...:D
I would add 2 full-size bags with underseat exhaust and slightly bigger tank.
Maybe someone can scan the article and post them here for the naysayers to read...;)
 
And then put it in an RT package (as it’s never going off tarmac anyway) and job’s a good ‘un!

I wonder if Boxerfrogs has ever considered that some "dive" at the front enables better turn in etc
 
Nin in England with lots of rain and cold weather I definitely would take the RT over the R or RS...Better weather protection and TELELEVER ! Here the RT is heavier and hotter than the GS...The M1300XR or R1300XR , however BMW will call it will be the one :thumby:
RedRick on perfect smooth pavement on real race bikes with a super stable geometry set up for 200mph + a little fork dive can help on turn in due to shortening the trail...But we talk about street or occasional track day bikes here which mostly don't encounter smooth pavement and are already quick steering...Here forks and chain for quick gearing changes are useful.
But anyways maybe someone can scan these interesting recent articles from MCN and Ride in here for others to read...

Maybe on the track ...its a matter of preference , i prefere the TL as its just solid , forks for me are now awkward . Tried again on a few differnt bikes but just find the forks a bit odd even with all the new tronics and not as good , Ducati Sky hook the worst.
 
I'm with you Stick...I tried forks one more time by buying a 2016 R Nine T and went full Ohlin$$$...Fork & shock.
Telelever was way better and I will Never go back...Forks belong on the table but not on a motorcycle !
Can't believe how BMW could leave it off the R1200/1250R/RS...And after all these years being F.O.S. the press finally gets it too...:thumb2 And all the electronics on a fork still don't turn it into the way superior Telelever as all these forks do is close the valves to resist dive but then they can't iron out bumps...Telelever will do Both at the same time !
And of course I meant M1300GS or R1300XR however BMW will name the 100% road-oriented version of the coming R1300GS...:thumby:

I found the articles on the net otherwise I would have scanned it in myself !
 
That must be it...;)But it is good that the media that is mostly so wrong and F.O.S. got it right in these articles about the advantages of the Telelever and the GS in general...Like we already know 25 hp more,17" front and two Full size bags are as close to perfection/motorcycle nirvana as it gets...:thumb

A friend of mine has a 1290 ADV after two GSs, he thinks the best bike would be the KTM with the BMW front end, its engine is more fun to thrash.
 
It's like having the Mormons on your doorstep, and won't go away until you have been converted..........................
 
Mormons are easy to convert...Just invite them in your house for a beer...;)

That would be a great idea , as a KTM engine fan this would solve the handling issue they have . Make an interesting bike , and one you could have a decent tussle against rather than a fly by in the corners lol 😂
 
Stick I really don't want a KTM V-twin in my GS...On the street I only ride a BOXER...THe only engine configuration that protects your legs in case things go wrong !
But a R 1300-1400 GS Boxer with 160hp/NM I'll take any day :thumby:
