Antenna ring replacement?

Wilbjr21 is quite right - all 1200s have ring antenna and FPC.

Latest antenna seems to have solved problem.

Jury is still out on latest fpc.

I have just had the new FPC fitted.. fingers crossed!!

But how do I tell if I need a new ring antenna; the dealer tells me "it is not one of the bikes affected"

You will know when the bike does not start on the ignition, total silence and 'EWS' flashes on the instruments.... before that moment, you don't.

:) on the back of the square box bit under the ign (Screen side) where the wires disappear there a long number ending in (hopefully) 247

Yes mine has been done even though my 07 model was supposed to have the latest ring antenna when I bought the bike lat year.

Southport Superbikes letter said "A BMW quality service enhancement is over due."

Ring antenna was done.
Rear brake lines were done.
Software update was done (think this has affected the fuel consumption a little).

I asked if this was a recall and they said no as there were no safety issues involved, just preventative mesures.

Jim,
pic here of the ant ring (off the bike obviously !) the ring part goes round the Ign barrel the box bit is pointing towards the fromt wheel......

Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know just how to remove the EWS Housing for Antenna replacement. Its the two funny fasteners accessed from underneath that are the problem. I haven't seen anything like them before. Thanks.

They're security screws (which makes sense really). The only posts I've seen to refer to drilling them out, but a forum search for security screws might reveal an easier method.
