Does anyone know if it's possible to obtain and change the 'Y' piece to enable the fitting of a single silencer/can? (2011 TC)

An example of where more, is less. ;)
Bendy Toy is yer man. He has a set of these.
I'm guessing that its doable, but with Akro, its going to cost you.
Go and take a cold shower, Keith.

An exhaust specialist like Predator Motorsport (http://predatormotorsport.co.uk/ONE-OFF-EXHAUST-GALLERY/) would be able to knock up a suitable link pipe for you. I've seen some of their work and it's impressive while not being too expensive - almost certainly cheaper than Akrapovic!

They're just opposite SBW Motorrad in Welwyn Garden City but there may be similar exhaust specialists nearer to Cambridge.

Most aftermarket system match the OEM header pipe outlet position. The Akra titanium porn parts will not match "ordinary" headers.

If you want to fit a "normal" silencer you could get a stainless link pipe made to measure (Xtreme Stainless near Stafford are good). IMO. you would be better to get a "normal" header and sell the Akra system complete.

If you want to fit an Adventure side case rack all you need is different bolts on the front LHS frame clamp. I used flanged button heads from the inside with dome nuts and it all cleared the Akraprovic silencer can. The rear cross tube sits in the lower can outlet gas flow but causes no problems.

If it's too noisy, fit some baffles. I used a pair of 35mm dia baffles bolted on with a spacer. They don't plug the outlet but significantly reduce noise. Cost £10 to £15 on eBay. Another option is to bung up one can with a fitted angled baffle. Noise is much reduced but fitted baffles can seize into the outlet stub.

Bunging up both is a waste of a good system as it will noticeably affect performance.

BTW, the whole system is as light a s feather. I love mine. It's not quiet at motorway speeds but its not offensive at town speeds. I always wear ear plugs but at 70 mph the front tyre makes more noise than the exhaust - even without baffles. It passed the last two MOTs with no baffles fitted.

Thankyou gents for your comments and views. I think an advert may be the way forward.

What do you dislike about the system you have. Aesthetics are of course personal but it's lighter than anything else available, sounds good and can be baffled in many ways.

Its too noisy and I prefer the look of a single silencer. I can live with the looks but not the noise. Incredibly light though.

Put baffles in. An angled close fitting baffle in one outlet makes a significant difference. Two 35mm straight baffles sitting on spacers really quieten it down and are hardly any louder than two fitted baffles except the system is not so corked up.

People say it's subjective but mine felt much quicker and sharper with the Akra shotgun system against Remus headers with OEM silencer. The Akra was louder (though not much) and I always wear -35dB ear plugs so its "sound track" wasn't why it felt quicker. Poo and garden implements come to mind.

Bendy, can you help me with a some details/pics of the baffle(s) etc. I may pursue this system if it can be quietened down. Thanks

No problem.

Get onto eBay and buy either two x 35mm straight baffles or one 47mm angled baffle.

The two 35s will balance the flows but TBH the bike wont really care. Bolt them into the outlets with an M5 screw, locknut and spacer washers so the baffle is in the middle of the pipe. It's not central but that's fine they are not trying to plug the pipe. You need a mechanical locknut as the usual nyloc wont stand the heat. Cost about £25. If you are really fussy, dished washers are best. I just (carefully) bent some ordinary washers in a vice.

If you go for the angled baffle, it will plug up the pipe so most flow will go the other way. However, I suspect the noise gets bounced around inside the two cans so one fitted baffle is much less noisy than we'd expect. Two angled baffles will affect gas flow. On my bike it felt like I'd corked the exhaust (which I had!). Cost about the same as the cheap baffles if you go for stainless.

There is an exhaust specialist near Cambridge who should be able to help. Saying that Andy from Xtreme Stainless (near Stafford) made me some baffles. They took the noise edge away but were not that effective. He makes some great stuff so no meaning to knock his work.

Mild steel 35mm baffle. Use a M5 bolt with suitable washers etc- the supplied M5 is rubbish.

Do confirm the outlet pipe diameter and use a good anti seize paste all around.
