My sat nav wheel stopped working about 2 weeks ago, also at about the same time I stopped getting audio prompts from my Scala rider 4 , could one affect the other? The sat nav is Nav 5. Also cannot now connect my phone The Nav still shows the route but in silence, all the settings volume ,Bluetooth, are enabled on the Scala and the phone and Nav 5. Is there a reset on the Nav 5 ?

You could try taking the battery out for a few minutes but i dint like the sound ( no pun intended) of the control wheel not working !

As the nav5 is basically a zumo 660 you could try using its reset procedure, which is hold finger down on lower right side of screen and then keeping it pressed down turn on the unit and it will give you the option to reset .

If unsure there are a couple of short videos on You Tube

Thanks for the reply's. I have done the reset, and tried to connect my phone every thing enabled, but just get the message No Bluetooth devices found.

Off to see the dealer tomorrow hopefully they can fix it....:thumb2

It's more a Zumo 590 in a 660-shaped case.

My wheel packed up a few weeks ago. I think I removed/replaced the battery from the Nav 5 and all was sweet again.

Yes have had it off the bike, it makes no difference. I will try taking the battery out tomorrow. Thanks again all.:beerjug:

My sat nav wheel stopped working yesterday morning, came back on in the afternoon. On a bike less than 3 months old. Not good

I took it into BMW at Algeciras for its 10,000 k service, tried the wheel on the way, nothing, the head mechanic came to collect the keys, I told him the wheel not working and could he have a look at it. You quest it, the Fcuking thing started working as soon as he touched it :blast. Still got no sound on the Nav 5 though. Looks like the Scala 4 is the problem there. I will try to swop from the other helmet to see if that fixes it.

Will you start having to pay import duty etc when take the bike for servicing in Algeciras?

I could claim the vat back, but can't be bothered. The car and bike actually live in Spain . Not much fun having a touring bike to ride round and round a rock. If they close the border.

The last time they closed it, it was for 16 years. Clunts. And then only opened it because Spain wanted to join the EU. The irony of it.

if you reset the nav you will have to pair it again with the Scala, a reset clears all paired devices, hope this helps

Thanks Pablo, after the reset I paired my phone no problem, but its not finding the Scala, so tomorrow I will try to use the Scala head set from the passenger helmet to see if that will get recognized, if not I will have to buy another set of something or other. :beerjug:

pairing

Not sure if it will help, I have to turn the phone off to pair the scala to the nav as it tries to pair the scala to the phone, , something to do with arbitration in the scala,, i have a pack talk,

Just try push/pull along the handlebars gently - sometimes when I catch the wheel moving the bike around by hand it stops working, but gently pushing the unit a little along the bars seems to reactivate it. strange but true! dodgy connections?

Might be worth checking that you have no other bluetooth devices connecting to your phone.

I have had similar problems when my smart watch is connected to my phone but i could hear all the audio but nobody could hear me on the headset or phone.

Had a problem with mine....took it off and wire brushed all contacts on sat nav and bike.... worked fine ever since...

Try cleaning the connectors with a soft brass brush, the bottom right connector is the one that uses the wheel connection. It worked for me.
