Any Hi Mileage Ohlins (ab)users out there?

Couldn't work out if this is technical, GsMods or Equip n Toys anyways

Having only managed 6.5~7K miles out of my GS Adv's back shock before preload disappeared rapidly followed by wots left of the damping (or it would appear to be). (PS being replaced under warrenty) I was wondering if the alledged quality replacement shocks are any better or does the adjustability/rebuildability? cover a similar milage rate before they need to be fiddled with?

Also I noticed that Ohlins offer 3 shock lenghts for GS range, a low option (for plain GS only?) a stock GS and an Adv shock (some "x" mm longer). I'm quite happy about the standard Adv saddle/ride hieght on "STD" settings (confirmed by Dealer GS ADV loaner bike which has working preload etc) but doesnt the Stock GS ohlins give Adv hieght? just wondering if the Adv spec Ohlins may be 1/2" too far? anyone with experience thoughts etc much appreciated.
PS is the ugly rumour of certain quality yellow sprung rears shocks snapping when abused true? as mentioned vaguely in an old issue of TBM when ridden by some bloke calle Blez??? I could have been confused on that.

I've got Ohlins Adventure shocks on my Adv and can't say I've noticed any difference in seat height. My rear Showa failed at about 15k miles (replaced under warranty - but I replaced it with Ohlins). Interestingly, the Showa shock is only warranted for 6k miles in the US market - it's specifically excluded from their 3 yr warranty.....

Ohlins for the Adv give the same ( near as dammit ) ride height as the standard Showa units.

The increase in ride ht. is when fitting GS Ohlins to the std GS. ( If that makes sense! )

Cheors Mike 0 where did you get ur ohlins from?

Bought mine (& had them fitted) from my local BMW dealer, Lind's of Norwich. Total bill (including HD spring for rear) worked out at about £750 fitted.....

Gents,
I was lead to believe that the front shock on an Adv is Showa sourced but the rear is a WP unit. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Blez broke a friends Technoflex rear on the Bracken Rally, but he'd break Titanium!!!!!
The Ohlins are very good for the money in my opinion having used one for 25,000 miles with no re-build. I bought a pair for my new R1150GS when the R1100Gs went to bike heaven. As a fellow GSer friend of mine said after riding my bike "The suspension on the stock bike is fuckin dangerous" The he went and bought a pair of WP shocks for his machine and really rates the improvement in ride and handling.
