Has anyone heard if there is a ferry to Norway from the UK for 2009???
Any new info on UK to Norway ferries

Only for freight.
Unless you go all the way up to Thurso.
Harwich to Denmark, Denmark to Norway seems to be the best option now.

IIRC these guys run a Scrabster - Bergen service.
Not really looked into it as living in Fareham the Harwich service makes much more sense.
Harwich to Denmark comes in under £300 each with two people and two bikes, then its 200 miles through Denmark to the north coast and 160euros to get the ferry from Denmark to kristiansand.
Crossing is overnight, gets in around midday IIRC and you can be in Norway by the same evening.#

Living in N. Wales the Harwich option would be better for me too.

I was talking to my son (who lives in Norway) last night, he says the Norwegian tourist people are trying to get another ferry company interested, he mentioned it may be subsidised? But don’t hold your breath, if it happens, it happens. I’ll report here if my lad hear's any more.
If anyone get it, I hope its P&O, just cos the food on the Hull-Zebrugge ferry is so good!

was told by a Norwegian last week that the ferry runs out of Newcastle - into Stavanger, - Google maps confirms this as a route.

You'll need the ipod- Denmark ( well Jutland anyway) has the most boring,straight roads. Well surfaced but boring.
At least it's not too far to the ferry from Esbjerg..

Thinking of Norway later in the year.
Pisses me off that there are no passenger ferries any more.
So far the freight route from Immingham to Brevik is still my best bet but thought I would check with the collective.
Anyone know of anything else ?

Not much news on that one. The passenger options from up here 
(Aberdeen) is Rosyth-Zeebrugge, Newcastle-Ijmuiden (Amsterdam). All other ferries further down the east coast all go to a port south of Ijmuiden....that is, unless you go to Harwich for the Esbjerg run, which is the only passenger ferry from the UK that actually heads north.....HOWEVER, you can (by phone only, no online booking systems...) call DFDS and get a ticket for Immingham (Grimsby) to Esbjerg on their cargo run. They only have a limited number of cabins and prioritize commercial purchases over private/passenger but it is feasible and does cut some time/miles off if you are in the north of the country.

I thought the Rosyth ferry had been binned ?
Anyway - just had word back from DFDS about the Immingham - Brevik freight service.
Bike & rider will be aboot £230 each way, including meals and accom.
Not too bad when you consider the alternative.

Rosyth/Zeebrugge with Superfast did indeed cease in the autumn of 2009 but Norfolk line started it again in late spring 2010
