Any preference on my next part?

Hi All, I am pleased to let all the members (who are interested) know that I have finally got my rotting carcass back from Florida where I was amazed with such things as Truly Fat Yanks (fat yanks must be harder to blow up) including one who was riding a Hayabusa in flip flops and sawn off jeans oh and yes, no helmet - live and let live I guess.

I also paid f*cking zillions to swim with a Dolphin, has it written........? I am devastated.

Anyway, after my success with the crud catcher (cue a fantastic image taken by a member, god bless him) I am after suggestions on the next bit of art? I want to make either a rear master cylinder cover (I think I can improve on the BMW one) or an engine guard that fits to the stand (all the ones I have seen don`t look very nice). Any opinions would be sincerely appreciated!

How about that plate that replaces the back seat, a bit wider to either incorporate the side panniers, or a battery, protector along with your rear shock guard

Sounds a good idea mate though I`d need quite a bit of help from you so that I understood exactly what would be required?

I must admit, the stand engine guard and/or the master cylinder cover is a `quick fix` as it takes bloody ages to design, prototype and make something which I always try to make as best as possible (too many people try to take cost out of items where I am trying to put value back in and celebrate over engineering!).

Regarding what you have mentioned is there anything currently on the market which I could improve on which would help me?

R1200GS

I`d possibly go for the R1200GS as thats what I have got and I therefore have 24/7 access to it (I sleep with it )

Any other member got any help they can offer on this requirement?

To be honest, I am a little clueless as to how this item will look but then again thats no surprise as on most weekends I am `at one` with good red wine

Designs and R1150 MB covers

Firstly, I can accept everything from AutoCad to Radan formats (dxf dwg etc etc) but I can also use pdf`s and it would not be the first time I`ve done something off the back of a fag packet

Also, photo`s to help a great deal!

Regarding the 1150 Master Brake Cyl cover would an R1200GS one fit? Otherwsie I`ll need some help in designing one - if you are not too far away and are willing to travel I`ll design it to your bike and then let it have it for free for helping me! :cool

Can do that, may be able to borrow one off a mates bike and bring it up. In Lincoln and visit scunny most weeks. Would like crud catcher for my 1150 GS and one for my mates 1200GS both non adventure, both with no laser cutting, will collect with cash.

I have sh#t out on the master cylinder cover. The mate that I thought had one actually hasn't - sorry about that, doh!! Have another avenue to explore so will come back to you, defo want the crud catchers tho please.

Did I read on a previous post that the 1150 and 1200 crud catchers are the same?

No worries, to be honest it takes so much time to design a `nice` item which I am happy with you might have ended up moving to Scunny!

Anyway, yes, the catcher fits both models I am pleased to say - there is an image of both on my fleabay I think.

It's too late for my benefit but having spent the last week adding additional lights and horns to my 1200GSA I can give you some feedback for ideas. I bought the Migsel lightbar for the GSA (popular I understand) but the standard OEM foglights don't fit so I had to bodge an adapter to make them fit. With this in place I then couldn't fit the HID Ballast bar (fits behind the oil cooler) which I had to cut in half (although in retrospect I could have rebent it possibly). I then had to make adapters to fit the twin Stebel Magnum horns onto the migsel lightbar.

So, if you end up making a lightbar compatible with a GSA and/or other bits, consider the fitting of the OEM fog lights, HID ballast fitting locations and horn mounting options. I think a lot of Tossers end up doing these mods i.e HID's, Lightbar and Horns and there's nothing off the shelf which works for everything.

Just an idea....

Seemingly on the 1150 there are a couple of mounting points under the oil cooler which the R1200GS does not seem to have.............

Any images, sent to me at [email protected], would be helpful if you have any ideas?

Is the GSA the same as the GS in this respect?

2 catchers destination Lincoln

Mate, I am sooo f*cking stupid at times - they have been sat on my desk for a day with me wondering "who did I make them for again"

Thanks for reminding me - my only excuse is my hectic day job and my commitment to trying to do whatever I can for fellow bikers, which I enjoy doing, at a fair price!

Anyway, less bollocks and whilst on the subject of price - the catchers start at £44.99 inc p&p (and actually should cost more if I do a `special` or `to order`) but in this case take off the postage (£5) and then take off a further 10% fellow tosser discount and that leaves £35.99.

To be honest the saving in not putting in the logo is negligable but I don`t give a toss so if you want to give me £30 each for the 2 then thats fine by me - I`m only gonna spend it on my GS and/or booze anyway because I don`t need to apply the commercial rigidity I need to do in my day job. Not that I`ll give them away either as some money has to go to pay for the material and lasertime!

Is the GSA the same as the GS in this respect?

The GSA comes with the upper crash bars as standard and has an extra bar attached to take the Aux lights. This bar fits horizontally to the main crash bar. The migsel light bar is designed to attach to the upper crash bar but sits directly underneath the main tube rather than alongside it. This gave me a problem with the HID ballast bar as it is designed for the OEM arrangement. The standard Aux lights also don't fit the migsel bar without making a bracket to fit. It's difficult to explain so as I still have the bike stripped down I will try and take some photo's.

In retrospect I perhaps could have done without the Migsel and attached the additional spotlights to the crash bars. However, I have used it as an extra mounting point for some of the HID wiring plus I have 2 Stebel horns now attached to it so it has been of use.

And by the way, I think I'm ahead of Fanum in the cue for the 1200GSA crudcatcher - money was sent via Paypal already.

Thanks for letting me collect the catchers today and it was good to meet you and actually see the machine that makes them - very impressive.

The catchers look great and my mate and I are both chuffed with the quality and finish, hopefully will fit tomorrow and report back.

Lastly, I must say, you certainly have plenty of enthusiasm and passion for making these buggers!!!
