Any real difference between Sena and cardo. Built in comms for possible new shoie helmet and can they talk to one another.

I would rather not have to listen to other people wittering while I am riding. No coms for us. We have our own way of communicating. Tap on the right shoulder, turn right. Tap on the left shoulder, turn left. Thump in the back, slow down.
Fairs. I felt the same but would rather have it nowadays. Alerting others to road dangers, route changes, the presence of Police and/or cameras, the reason why we are stopping and that a coffee break venue is being sought, IMHO, outweigh any disadvantges that you mention. I respect your quest for a quiet life.

I watched as a pal of mine overtook a turning car at a junction.

I saw the car indicator flash 3 times before it turned, so tons of time, but for some reason he didn’t notice.

If we’d have had comms it would have certainly prevented the accident and his repatriation back to the UK.

I have a vague recall of reading something about Cardo Mesh and Sena Mesh becoming Compatible --- perhaps it was a month or so ago, might have been in MCN ???

For what it's worth I returned a Sena ST1 Spider, within warranty and it was replaced with no quible.
That second ST1 was also replaced within warranty no quible.
The third ST1 is still functioning (out of warranty).
It is regularly operated faultlessly with a.n.other ST1 -- that ST1 has not been replaced and is now out of warranty.

I've just bought a new Sena Outrush flip front helmet as it came with a free integrated Sena comms and speakers already fitted. Got it mainly as it was one of only a few helmets that fit over my chin and my old SMH10 unit was getting tired and not keeping it's charge for long. Thought as it was Mesh 3 compatible it would connect easily with my mates who have gone the Cardo route..... but we couldn't get them to pair despite much faffing. The Sena online manual doesn't mention the Cardo specifically, just says it will pair with lots of riders in your group. Not very clear whether they mean people only using Sena comms or other brands.
As an aside, I'm really happy with the helmet, superb speakers and super long battery life on the unit. I can easily do 3 full days without charging up

I have a Senna 50R, and the Mrs the Autocom 16 (which runs same hardware) and they work great, the Senna also connects fine with a mates old non-mesh Senna integrated system.

I understand Cardo can do a BT connection to a single Senna unit, and in theory that would bring the Senna user into the Cardo mesh chat - but the rider connected to the Senna needs to stick close by.

I find my Senna "voice activation" utterly useless, but hook it up via my Garmin Zumo which gives me a music player and easy way to bring up phone menu to call on the move without having to fuck about with weird button presses on the headset whcih is like trying to play a version of the electronic game of "simon says" one handed whilst riding a motorcycle.

Basically, buy what most your mates have (or the ones you would prefer to talk to) seems to be good advice, and (IMHO) if there is an option for upgraded or "HD" audio take it, I can hear music at Motorway speeds and clearly hear others speak.
