I have decided that I am going to keep my old GSA (138,000miles) and spend a bit of time and money on her this winter. Plan is to remove and get serviced the Wilburs which in my opinion are fantastic but have covered about 60,000 miles and could do with a rebuild – was thinking about using Revs Suspension – anyone used them as they are new to me having used Kais for my Ohlins on the other bike.

Having a bony bum I find the stock seat hard after a few hours and use an airhawk but I am thinking about investing in a Sargent or a Touratech aftermarket seat – again anyone have any opinions on which is better. I have had the original seat refoamed and recovered by Diggers in Newport but two or three hours into a ride I am twitching on the saddle…

My engine and gearbox are all sorted, final drive all done, new Dunlops fitted, sat nav and mapping installed years ago and working fine, some farkles care of Vern and a few others, rewired by me and she is as reliable as anything.

I need a new set of panniers and was thinking metal mule as my old Zega’s leak a lot as the lids no longer fit or alternatively Zega Pro which means I can use the same mounting points – again anyone have any thoughts?

Hi.
Have a look at Holan for the panniers, just got a Nomada top box very good price and excellent quality. They get good reviews from ADV rider group.

Verns panniers :blast

I've had many different pannier systems over the years and only admired one and thats my VND's. For space, functionality and quality there is no substitute.

I have a sargent seat which is brilliant imho. I borrowed kahedo seat for a trip to Spain last year on a standard GS and it was barely better than standard. the sargent seems to get better with use.

There will be plenty who will tell you they are shite though because we are all different shapes, so its a gamble whatever you do.

I guess you're mostly asking about cosmetic items but I suggest the following if you haven't done it yet, in rough order.

--Overhaul all the hoses in the fuel tank, including vent lines. They fail without warning.
--Add an AF-XIED, you'll like the low end muscle
--Replace the stock rubber brakes lines, also prone to sudden failure.
--Replace the stick coils if they are original, weak ones cause lots of difficult to figure problems before they fail.
--Replace the HES, which also fails without warning.

All done cheers, well apart from the chip upgrade :)
