...the sat nav mount?

I don't plan to use it and it gets in the way (I'll keep hold of it, of course).

The bracket looks like it should come off easily, and I imagine the cable is attached with a connector somewhere. The question is, where?

I have taken mine off to fit my Zumo 550. Follow the wires they don't go far on the right hand side (as sitting on bike). Easy job:thumby:

The bracket isn't fitted from the factory, I asked them to leave it off.

It's in a bag in the garage....

I took mine off too. Very easy. 5 min job. Snip of the cable ties, trace the cable to the connector that sits in a recess under the beak and unscrew the GPS mounting.

I've left the mounting bar as I've attached my Garmin Zumo to it. The 550/BMW mounting is 90 degrees rotated than the Zumo so you can't use that mounting bracket.

I went the cheaper route and bought a car satnav, at the moment its in a bag that secures to the handle bars. Mounting it on the GPS mount doesnt work as the bag straps are spaced to far apart, so I was thinking of taking off the GPS mounting unit and replacing it with something else secured to the mounting bar - is this what you have done? What bracket\mount have you attached to the mounting bar?
Cheers

Hi Krytengs,

I used the mounting kit from the Garmin unit plus but used the screws from the original BMW mounting bracket. It's not pretty and I'm still looking for an alternative - but it is solid and hasn't moved an inch.

I'm not bothered about pretty - just want a solution that works and doesnt involve paying the extortionate prices for the bmw\garmin bike specific units.

I just found this which might work - using a standard RAM clamp to clamp onto the left over mounting bar...
