Any TFT Gurus out there ??? I cant connect the dammed thing properly

Not seen this reply before.

On the nav 6 how do you choose a connection type that won't answer calls?

TIA

Presumably, either choose the dedicated gps channel on your headset or if connecting on a headset phone channel, turn off its phone capability in the sat nav.

After its all paired go on to the nav 6 select bluetooth
select the mobile phone
tick smartphone link
untick media
untick phone calls

still in bluetooth
go on to the headset
untick media

thats what i did and its still working (but ive still got my fingers crossed)

Seems it’s all a nightmare. I’ve a XR iPhone and SMH10 sena headset. No nav as I use the TomTom app on the phone. Rhe phone connects, no problem but when I connected the headset the music from my phone appeared on the screen, but no sound came through the headset.

Then connected the phone to the bike and the headset to the bike using thee second pairing on the headset and it all worked.

Then next day the phone connected straight away but no way would it find the headset it seemed to have simply forgetting it and so I tried to re-pair it. Nothing. Couldn’t find it at all despite searching for it both on the first and second Bluetooth channels, so gave up in the end and just connected the headset to the phone.

Got to where I was going and tried on last time, this time it found the headset straight away and that was on both Bluetooth channels. Now is all working. Why?

Nothing worse than inconsistent connections.

Thank god I’m also trying to throw a satnav in there too. Although to be fair to Garmin their Bluetooth reliability is was better than TomTom as far as the iPhone is concerned.

I now believe it’s an iPhone connectivity problem as each time I now go out on the bike I use the Samsung S10 and everything connects instantly and all works as it should even the bit on the app that tells you your maximum lean angle achieved
I’m happy now it all works

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max ios 14.5 and a Sena 50r. It all works perfectly with 022_005_041.

Is there an easy way to check what software release I have on my 1250 TE?

Sorry to jump in here but same topic so hopefully it fits in with the OP’s issue.

I have the Packtalk Bold, TFT and Nav 6. Phone iPhone 12

Managed to get it all (not quite all, hence my question) working with the following configuration.

Phone >> TFT

Phone >> Nav 6 in the Nav 6 adjust phone calls disabled, smart link enabled, media disabled)

Cardo >> TFT (BT Phone link 1)

Cardo >> Nav 6 (BT Phone link 2 and then use the jog wheel to adjust to GPS pairing)

All that works a treat, I hear the music from phoneand that mutes while Nav gives direction then music from phone comes back up to volume.

How though do I now connect the Cardo to the phone to enable any control of Mesh talk groups and other functions from the App.

I have watched Nick Hodges video which does it differently but with the packtalk that doesn’t work anyway..

Thanks

Puzzled by what you mean are you saying that you cannot communicate with other riders ?

You need to be connected by Bluetooth between cardo and phone in order to use the app which allows the configuration via the app. With both BT used on the cardo for TFT and Nav6 there is no option to connect to the phone for the app control.

Just asking - why do all you guys use a satnav ??
I use the BMW app for satnav and its fantastic. And its anoher thing you dont need to connect.
I have iphone for music /packtalk/tft and it works great.

Dont shoot me - just asking...

Me neither. That garmin is a stinking turd.

Removed the cradle and have a wireless charging phone mount there instead.

Personally I use the TomTom app as good as the bmw one is, it doesn’t seem to have traffic cameras? Which is odd as the traffic data comes from a deal Bmw have with TomTom. Either way, far simpler when it comes to connecting.

Three big issues why I’d keep my Garmin.

Riding (in any other times) in hot weather. The phones overheat really quickly and then go into limp mode. The Garmin is spot on and just keeps going.

Secondly, constant charging and the diminishing battery effect of doing so.

Hardly, the base camp planning is really useful. I know there is the My Maps thing....

Just me though.

Just a heads up re the BMW 'Connected' app, the location services for it must be 'Always' on. I have found that it won't work properly if location is set to be on 'whilst using the app'. Weird I know.

That’s correct and also the extra setting of precise location. Since Apple introduced in iOS14 some new privacy to all apps that when you select use location only puts it within a small geographical location and fuzzes the true location.

Does the phone mount have vibration damping on it?
I only say that as the vibration from the engine seems to kill some phones cameras over time.
