Seriously tempted for dirt riding when full MX armour is not really required - a Rallye Pro replacement that doesn't get so wet!!

Anyone bought one yet? Or looked and decided against it?

Gets a good write up in this month's Ride mag.

Only problem is the logo looks like KTM :blast

Those chaps at Adventure Bike Warehouse helped me out with one and it looks fantastic - hoping to take it out later today or tomorrow :bounce1

I tried two on et the NEC.

I'd sold some no longer used gear and gone down with the express reason of buying a Badlands suit.

The problem for me was that the L was a little snug and the XL was too long, even if I allowed for an extra warm layer underneath.

It seems to be very nice gear, but I thought it'd be lighter in weight than my Rukka, if it is there isn't much in it.

I also found that every time I took the jacket on and off, the belt of the kidney protector came out of the internal loops and dangled down behind me. I know it's not much of a niggle but at that price the jacket had to be perfect for me to justify to myself the purchase.

I've a similar problem - the medium is a little snug and the large just a little to... well large!

But I'm gonna go with the medium - I can still get a goosedown underneath but probably not with a hydration pack... If it's that cold, I prolly don't need the hydration bladder! I also found that sitting on the bike changed the way the jacket fitted quite a bit so would def recommend doing this :thumb2

I hadn't thought about my riding position altering the fit, but I know that's the case with trousers, so it makes sense.

I found the XL too long in body and sleeves, I'm probably too short for my build, or too fat for my height !

It is very well thought out clothing, in the best materials and with high attention to detail.

I just wish someone would produce and adventure / touring suit, with loads of external, waterproof, bellows type pockets and a Gore-Tex laminated outer material.

Have not looked at the Badlands, but i do have the Adventure Rally suit, had it for about a year and really pleased with it, great quality, pity about the price though.

Not sure I understand - how is the Badlands not this jacket?

Even the Badlands isn't cheap...

Sorry about the ambiguity, I think the Badlands is slightly biased to off- roading, ie no warm removable lining, front pockets on the jacket aren't bellows type, not so many large pockets on the trousers and the inclusion of the hydration bladder pocket which isn't necessary for mainly on- road touring.

I think the lack of a removable warm lining points towards the heat generated by the physicality of off- roading, as does the inclusion of the kidney belt and the hydration bladder pocket.

I'm no designer and could easily be wrong about this, but I'd like to see a jacket like the Rukka Kalifornia with a Gore-tex laminated outer shell instead of the existing waterproof removable liner.

These look distinctly like bellows pockets to me:

You're right they are, hadn't noticed before, still no lining though, still has a hydration pocket too and a kidney belt !

As I've already said, I'm no designer, but the cut of the jacket ( quite long at the back ) appears to be more oriented to standing on the pegs as opposed to being seated.

Ideal for some but not for me.

Just bought the badlands suit in black.

Very impressed. V high quality. V comfortable. Can't comment on waterproof yet.

I have the badlands jacket and traverse trousers- superb!

Just run on Sgt bilco,s Calafornia to Alaska trip 39c 3c and back 8000 miles, odd bits of serious rain
So far i would rate this as very decent kit.

I'm happy with mine

Had a bit of a head f*ck and splashed out on a badlands suit a couple of weeks ago, I have never spent this much on a suit before but it seemed to tick all the boxes for me. Iwent for the grey and black, had to order it from Adventure bike warehouse and it arrived the following day, It was my first trip there and I found them very knowledgable and helpful. Did around 500 miles at the weekend down to south wales and found the suit really comfortable and easy to control temperature, had a little rain but not really tested although I'm sure that will change on a trip to Ullerpool at the end of the month. So all in all although pretty expensive so far I am Happy :):thumb2

Just have badlands jacket. Great bit of kit, worth the outlay, should last.
Good in temps to around 25+ as it has well thought out vents. Then layer when it gets cold, all year round jacket.

I believe the kidney belt as you call it is actually there to help distribute the weight of the jacket better around the body when it has the pockets loaded and the bladder in place. I don't think it's meant to be a support like the kidney belts in motocross etc.

The tail on the back is supposed be lower so when sitting down the front sits nice on the trousers and the back stops the jacket riding up and no gaps between trousers and jacket.

As said its important to check the fit on the bike. I have seen people try on the latitude and the badlands and in identical sizes fit completely different. Like you said its not for everyone. You wouldn't buy a crash helmet if it didn't fit right so why spend all that money on a jacket that doesn't fit properly.
